Hopefully both these political parties will go down in the course of time and let Scotland thrive again as part of a thriving U.K. No more Socialist Old Boys aka S.O.B's or Salmond's Old Boys aka S.O.B.'s.

The Scottish National Party's (SNP) win in Thursday's election ended 50 years of Labor dominance in Scotland, although it will need to ally with other parties to form a governing coalition in Scotland.

SNP leader Alex Salmond, who has pledged a referendum in three years on Scottish independence from Britain, declared himself the winner. "This is an historic moment," he said.

LET'S SEE IF ENGLAD WOULD AGREE FOR SCOTTISH INDEPENDENCE AS SHE AGREED FOR KOSOVO INDEMPENDENCE???

Why doesn't Scotland want to be part of Great Britain? It seems as if it's very beneficial to the Scottish economy, but I am not well educated on the politics of the British isles. Someone tell me, though, is this just a pride issue or will it actually benefit Scotland to be independent?

Scots are proud to be Scottish and have had a long history of fighting England.Libs as you obviously don't know anything of Scottish history and reading is hard on you maybe go watch Braveheart with Mel,while this is not a historicly correct source it would do for you as most of your learning comes from movies and comic books.I almost thought you were becoming a human again with your comments on abortion but now you went and ruined it again...NUMPTY

yeah... the only reasons I could think of for Scotland to want to leave Great Britain would be disapproval of the war, economic situations (which i still need a reply on), and because Scotland wants to be a big boy and manage its own affairs.

I hope Independence occurs before Sir Sean leaves this earth. It would certainly lift his soul.

An independent England. Sounds good to me. Two thousand years of history just to get back to where it started -- what an amazing story.

Now for Welsh independence, then Wessex?

Boy QE2 better high tail it back to Winsor before the Kingdom disolves further. I'm Scotch decendent and its a horrible place. People dont think right up there. Being in a continous vegitive state is probably the reason. However, this wont happen soon. They have to figure out if the British Open can be played in St. Andrews. That alone should take several hundred years.
