It is not a crime in the literal sense but I would see it as a destruction of private property.

I'd be a lot more comfortable if they first focused their efforts on crimes they knew were real

online abuse can be serious, a verbal or virtual rape or violation of another is harmful psychologically, so it should be an offense, but as with anything in this world- it all depends on the circumstances

For Heaven's sake! What are we, like 10? Can't tell Bugs Bunny from a real human? Virtual rape is a FANTASY. How could it possibly be a crime? A pc, as commonly used, is just a COMMUNICATIONS DEVICE. Get EVEN. Cut off the rapist's virtual genetalia. Next round they can have their virtual genetalia back, and you can have your virtual virginity back. Help yourself recover from this devastating virtual experience by volunteering at a rape crisis center.

This is ridiculous. I call BS on a rape in SL. Just turn off your damn computer or log out.

Just because some weak-minded people have emotionally invested themselves in a fantasy world, the rest of society (and its enforcement mechanisms) do not have to buy into their imaginary problems.

Let the police operate in the physical world, where real crimes hurt real people. Do not divert their energies to pursuing the twisted imaginations of those too weak to separate fantasy from reality.
