May 4, 2007, 8:53 a.m.The guy with the brains made Cuban a billionaire. As everyone knows, Mark Cuban is the owner of the Mavericks. Maybe, Cuban should hire the same guy who made him a billionaire to run his team. A sight of beauty to see his team get trounced to the lowly Warriors and most of all to Don Nelson sho can't stand Cuban.

May 4, 2007, 12:07 p.m.For those of us in the Bay Area, this has been a long drought finally ended !! And it couldn't happen to a more deserving coach/team....Nellie is awesome....the team has peaked at the perfect time...you ain't seen nothing yet !!

May 4, 2007, 12:57 p.m.So they're predicting low ratings now...so what? What happened happened...it's why we have the playoffs and why the Mavericks aren't playing the Pistons (best records in their conference) for the title right now...
...and why does everyone like the "Cinderella" teams in the NCAA tourney, but not in the NBA?

May 4, 2007, 1:39 p.m.It is great that with our non-existant border security, 100s if not 1000s of people dieing in Iraq, large corporations defaulting on their pension plans (finacially ruining people that worked their whole lives), working families unable to get medical attention because of out of control medical costs, and all the other "minor" difficulties we face today in America, that we are able to focus soo much attention on a bunch of guys getting paid millions of dollars to play a game.

May 4, 2007, 1:55 p.m.I have one name... Don Nelson. He custom built that team to beat his former Mavs. Not so much the actual players but by having him as their coach he made EVERYBODY in the franchise believe that they could beat them. Baron Davis has always been a premier baller but Don Nelson gave him a sort of A List status. I'm not sure they could have pulled of such an upset if it were any other team but the Mavericks.
By the way, Mark Cuban is still the man and Avery Johnson should player coach..he can still play.

May 4, 2007, 2:10 p.m.Warriors ratings were dominant in the Bay area just like the Warriors were on the court. The Warriors use speed to neutralize the with a furious pace which makes big men get too tired. They can't jump and it throws off their shot. What happened to Dirk can happen to anyone who think they can get by by being in average shape. The Warriors run the whole game and by the third the other team fouls because they are tired and because they want to rest.
Tim Duncan and the Suns have the only big men that have proved they can run with the Warriors. they open up the lanes by shooting tons of threes so the other team has to work on D as well. The Warriors big guards dominate smaller guards like Louisville did to Stanford. The smaller guards get posted up all day like Iverson and Nash. Thier defense gets stops with quickness and speed to double, intercept passes and strip ball handlers. It is fun to watch.

May 4, 2007, 3 p.m.Why is this story up so high... I thought the NBA was slowly dying like MLB.

May 4, 2007, 4:11 p.m.I can't believe Baron Davis is finally playing well. He used to fake being injured so he didn't have to play for the Hornets. What an a**hole. But good luck to the Warriers anyway.

May 4, 2007, 4:43 p.m.the warriors exposed how weak dirk nowitzki really is. all he has is that fade away jumper. hes not quick, can't bang inside, and can't pull rabbits out of the hat like other great players do when its crunch time.
and that 3-2 matchup zone defense really had dallas confused. they were never able to adjust in the second half.
the better team won. and they're fun to watch.

May 4, 2007, 5:33 p.m.Well living in Florida IM glad that Miami beat them last year... On another note, Mark Cuban is a sleaze and thats putting it mildly.. He ran don nelson out of town because nellie refused to play Dirk when he was faced with a possible career ending injury, despite Mark Cuban insisting that he play, NELLIE REFUSED TO!! Dirk IS a great player and Dallas will come back next year I have no doubt in my mind.. IM glad that dallas did loose because Mark Cuban is worm and doesnt deserve to have his team win... My only hope is cuban will sell the team then I will wish nonthing but the absolute best for Dallas.. As for Golden State.... AMAZING !!! Way to go G.S!!! They deserve all the credit, this was no fluke......

May 4, 2007, 5:37 p.m.A little side note.. To the pathetic moronic idiot that turns a article about the NBA into a bush bashing session.. Seek some serious counseling, get gainfully employed and lay off the crack.... Just talk to Barack Obama about getting off of Crack... But til then you moron stick to what the thread is about.... MORON!!!

May 4, 2007, 9:38 p.m.Personally, I think the Warriors are going to dominate the Rockets/Jazz. And to all those who say it's lucky and they won't make it past the second round... they were plagued with injuries throughout the season. They then went on a 9-1 run to closeout the season, then they beat the best team in the NBA 4-2. You can't seriously sit there and tell me that those 13 out of 16 games were lucky. It doesn't happen. So you all need to get over the fact that the Mavericks got dominated. If they truly were the best team in the leage they would have beaten the Warriors.
P.S. Haha to all you Mavericks fans. =P Baron Davis beat you with an injured hamstring. That's got to feel bad.

May 4, 2007, 11:57 p.m.For all the posters who don't like Mark Cuban I have a question for you. If you could somehow wake up in a billionaire's body tomorrow who's would it be? Would it be Mark Cuban or Bill Gates?
For me, I'd take Cuban in a second! That guy knows how to have fun and enjoy life. Whatever else you say, he's no stuffed shirt.

May 5, 2007, 1:16 p.m.I'm a San Antonio fan. Before the first round I predicted GS would beat DAL in 6 on another board I'm on with some Mavs fans. It was so much fun watching mav fans' turn from cheer, to tough trash talk (ie you wait and see, we're coming back!), to total disbelief and denial, and finally to shock.
Believe me, after the Bay Area itself, nobody enjoyed watching the Macs crash and burn like SA did. lol I mean, we didn't just cheer for the underdog, we laughed until our sides hurt seeing Cuban slumpped in his chair, pouting, or yelling something at someone off camera (which makes him look like more of a lunatic). Nobody around was shocked at what happened, we've seen it before in 91, when the Spurs had a great season and were upset in the 1st rnd by the same Don Nelson and the Warriots led by current GS GM Chris Mullin. We know, better than anyone, the pain Dallas is feeling... and we're LOVING IT! lol Great job, GS, you played a great series.

May 5, 2007, 2:55 p.m.dallas need find new players they lost finals and playoffs. for warriors need win finals so they say best nba ???

May 5, 2007, 4:31 p.m.Yeah, dallas needs new players. Bruce Bowen gave the rest of the league the blueprint on how to effectively play Dirk on denfense. GS obviously did their homework on Dirk's scouting reports. I think Dallas' Nowitski era championship window is closed. It's going to take a lot of clever free agent moves in the off season to get to where they need to be.

May 5, 2007, 8:17 p.m.It's totally George Bush's fault. Since he is from Texas, he gave false information to Dirk Nowitski and he underestimated how tough the opposition would be.
