May 8, 2007, 8:10 a.m.The drugs to battle so-called "second-line" anti-retrovirals are needed by patients who develop a resistance to first-line treatment and currently cost 10 times as much, Clinton said. Nearly half a million patients will require these drugs by 2010.
Clinton's foundation negotiated agreements with generic drug makers Cipla Ltd. and Matrix Laboratories Ltd. that he said would generate an average savings of 25 percent in low-income countries and 50 percent in middle-income countries.
Clinton also announced a reduced price for a once-daily first-line AIDS pill that combines the drugs tenofovir, lamivudine and efavirenz.

May 8, 2007, 10:52 a.m.Bush will find a way to get the price up again before he leaves office. That is why he was placed in the White House.

May 8, 2007, 12:48 p.m.Personally, I think all medication prices should be lowered...especially for the elderly who have limited incomes and their medicines can cost at least 1/3 if not half of their income. And no, medicare/medicaid does not cover everything.

May 9, 2007, 9:18 a.m.During his last term in office the Former President Bill Clinton had many problems which nearly got him impeached.
After he left office, he set up his library and his foundation.
It is commendable and welcome news how he is using his foundation and connections to fight aids and help make the aids drug affordable to patients from developing countries.
I am impressed that despite his health problem sometime ago, he has the vision and strength to work to alleviate the suffering of those who can't help themselves.
For this he is proving that even though he is no longer the President of America, he is now a world leader.
Even though I am not one of his fans, I nominate him as the next Secretary of United Nation as well as for Nobel Peace Prize
