A light or white screen takes more energy to display than a dark or black screen. Recognizing this, Treehugger.com wrote a post about a black google saving energy and cutting back CO2 emissions in tremendous amounts. Fast forward to just recently and out of nowhere there appears Blackle, a black Google page.

    which has offered web search in color since a very long time.
