May 9, 2007, 8:19 a.m.He should just stay there until he fixes this mess of his own making. Seriously. And outside of the Green Zone at that. A little reality would do him good.

May 9, 2007, 8:44 a.m.I hope they kidnap him and torture him for all the Americans kids who have lost their lives or limbs for his and Bush's contrived war. All the innocent Iraqis killed and their land now polluted with depleted uranium as well.
The whole administration has been evil and yet they call themselves "Christian" but then again war suited their agenda which was based on greed and logistics.

May 9, 2007, 8:52 a.m.Let's see. He's negotiating Halliburton contracts and Exxon Oil field control contracts. He's also looking for a way to justify this illegal war through the Iraqi's. I hope they keep him there and so that he cannot cause us any more problems. W should be there permanently also -- in a torture prison!!

May 9, 2007, 9:02 a.m.This administration is getting desperate. The republican congressmen who are up for reelection are now starting to move away from Bush and making September a benchmark for measuring the progress of the surge. If it's not working and no real progress is being made, their support will vanish. Cheney is probably trying to threaten the Iraqi government to hurry up with an oil revenue sharing law and taking more of the control in the suppression of insurgent attacks. Or, the democrats along with dissenting republicans will force the withdrawal of US troops.
I fear Bush has no intention of ever leaving Iraq. The neocons view a strong US military presence in Iraq as a strategic necessity in that region. And as long as our troops are in Iraq, the military/energy industrial complex makes money.

May 9, 2007, 9:15 a.m.The Democrat Party (under Jefferson) was the first American Politcal Party to go to war against the Jihadis.

May 9, 2007, 9:25 a.m.I think we have a new political party in America - Democrats Against Democracy.
Such lovely people.
They abandoned the democrats in South East Asia and now want to do the same in the Middle East.
Did Pelosi meet with the democrats in Lebanon? Of course not. She met with the dictator of Syria. Nice to know the kinds of ideals she is loyal to.

May 9, 2007, 9:52 a.m.m. Simon you can never force your will (democracy ) on anyone that doesn't want it and never at the end of a gun. The best way for us to foster democracy is by example. Invading countries and destroying it is not a very good example. Do you think?

May 9, 2007, 10:15 a.m.Cheney can now become acclimated to warfare and go out on patrol. I would suggest a nightime patrol from 12 midnight to 8 a.m. in the streets of Baghdad or for that matter in any city in Iraq. The adage would then apply;
YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW!!

May 9, 2007, 10:18 a.m.How much of my gasoline did he burn this time, making another useless trip?
How come Truman didn't go to Nazi Germany during the war? Obviously it must be necessary, given how many trips this idiot has made into combat zones.

May 9, 2007, 10:30 a.m.Anyway you slice it, this is all about oil, greed and profits for multinational corporations. Democracy has little to do with it other than it would make it easier to manipulate the Iraqis and their resource instead of dealing with a dictator who jacks the oil price around destabilizing the OPEC status quo.

May 9, 2007, 10:31 a.m.VP Cheney visits the 'green zone' while wearing a bullet-proof vest. I thought the surge was working and it's really safe inside the 'green zone'!!!Dick Cheney ought to spend the summer in Baghdad to shed some weight. Don Imus was right calling Cheney,"Pork Chops". A tour in Iraq would bring him down to reality so he might resign before he gets empeached or prosecuted for lying to the American public & the world. His style is similar to Stalin.

May 9, 2007, 10:36 a.m.The oldest truism I ever heard.
Follow the money.
follow the 500 billion dollars taken from the US treasury to fund this war.
Who got the money? the troops? Very little.
Follow the Money the 300% inccrease in Gas prices.
Where is that money going?
To folks who just happen to be some of Bush's largest contributors?
Remember the "Peace Dividend" of the post cold war America?
You cant leave that much money on the table without the vultures swooping down to pick it up.
