Good luck, unlike some in the world I don't want to do the usual and think I have a clue about the politics in another country.

Can someone from the UK tell us about him and the differences between the parties?

This is a good step for Britian. And France also came to its senses in electing Sarkozy rather than that socialist/communist biatch Royal.

That's why I joined the other 2mil of expats to ensure what is mine stays mine.Atleast for another 2yrs or less before they have another election, until then he leads by default MP's pick their leader not the voters. So if a person has enough backing within the governing party they can oust the primeminister of their party and take over. That had been tried over the last 3 yrs but he couldn't quite get enough backstabbers, he always knew he would suceed years ago but didn't want to wait.He got his wish.

As Finance Minister, he sold a huge portion of Britain's real money, GOLD (primarily to the Chinese) as the price of gold was bottoming around $250 per oz! Chinese laughed "all the way to the bank." I'm sure the Chinese would love to see Brown elected so that they can get another opportunity to "fleece" the BRITS again. Yep, sold Britain's "family jewels" at fire sale prices. Swapped a tangible, in high demand, precious asset with real value for PAPER currency that is intrinsically worthless and steadily devaluing as the currency printing presses run full steam ahead to pay for the nanny state. This man is a FOOL. I assume he is also a proud card carrying member of the collectivist FABIAN Society as was Tony Blair? We have our INEPT leadership: "New World Order" Bush SR, Billary Clinton and now Warmonger Baby Bush JR, and the BRITS have theirs: Tony Baloney Blair and now "Brown the spendthrift pathetic Clown."

In my limited understanding of the British parliamentary system of government, the leader of the majority party is the Prime Minister as long as that party is in the majority or until he or she steps down. Tony Blair is the leader of Labour Party, which most closely resembles the Democratic Party in the United States (The Conservatives most closely resemble the Republicans too, but to be fair - multiple parties run in the the U.K., and my analogy may actually be false. But I digress...). Until Blair became (what my British friends call) "Bush's lapdog," he was wildly popular (much like the popularity Bill Clinton enjoyed in the U.S.). Much of the criticism of Blair (and apparently Gordon Brown, as well) before the the Bush era was that he was trying to moderate Labour too far from its core principles.

Would a British poster clarify and elaborate on this? Since I have relative in Britain, this is of particular interest to me...

When the new French President was recently elected his first official act was to float in the Med. sea aboard a $250,000.00 rental yacht for seven days. Who paid for it?

Lets see what Gordon Brown does?

If he is the typical elitist and power hungry human of any country you may find him planning a lavish lifestyle for himself and family and friends.

We have Bush/Cheney, such model citizens representing their electorate by becoming rich along with their friends. One blogger stated, why should they have all these perks including fat pensions, grandest health plans etc. Yet they tell you they are Public Servants, guess so they are taking their bosses to the cleaners with lobbyist assistance and repeated pay raises. Power of a few within government is a blight on mankind. Politicians equal blight.

Is there anyone here who knows, without a bunch of silly political senselessness, enough about Gordon Brown to tell me if he supported or opposed Tony Blair's support of Bush's war?

Amongst those of us in the 'gold bug' community, Gordon Brown is fondly referred to as "the biggest idiot in the history of the world." Between 1999 and 2002 Brown sold 60% of the UK's gold reserves at $275 an ounce, close to a 20-year low. And just to make absolutely sure that he got the lowest possible price, he ignored all advice from the professionals and ANNNOUNCED the sales IN ADVANCE.
