This is ridiculous... should thje unthinkable happen and the very top of the american govt be taken out, that's just what we'll need for survival: MORE BEURACRACY!

    WHAT?!

we saw what happened in Katrina when DHS and Fema were given too much to worry about... leave it to the pentagon and the military. they are the only one, seemingly, who can get anything done. What we DON"T need is a white house (of either party) to be concerned with politics and power in a time like that. which is an unavoidable result of such isolated power and responsibility.

military contingency plans are simple... line of presidential succession, and move the capitol to Denver or Omaha.

Where did Bush go on 9/11? Omaha. and was he safe? yes. and was he ever out of the loop? no more than usual.

    its so simple.

perfect example of how government messes everything up. any implemented contingency plan of a large scale will just create a cluster-f#@k and make things worse.

The same shadow government that Cheney and Rumsfeld practiced implementing years ago. It makes one wonder how the 2008 presidential elections might be derailed...

I know if i was a member of congress i would be getting really nervous after reading this, especially as we get closer to 2008 and given the new powers the American monarch has taken for himself. For the people who claim that the libs do not see the BIG picture in the war on terror..are you starting to see the BIG picture inside your country, the loss of controls.

Is this something to distract the public from Iraq and have us focus on some bigger tragedy that MIGHT happen?????

Oh, so now Bush is preparing things for a US nuclear strike on itself so that he can take over as emperor? My Lord, do you folks ever listen to yourselves or have you just been watching too much 'Jerico'? If nothing like this was done and we were attacked with no plan in place, you'd be screaming for his head for that. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
