Posted by: Alexia 2 years, 6 months ago

The openly gay Episcopal bishop at the center of the Anglican Church's global battle over homosexuality said Thursday he hopes to enter into a civil union with his partner next year. But New Hampshire Bishop Gene Robinson added that he wants to hold separate religious and legal ceremonies to set a precedent for how marriages and civil unions are performed in the United States.

They're "evil" because they want to make a lifelong commitment "till death do us part" to the person they love?? In front of God and everybody and you lose half your house if it doesn't work out? Crazy, maybe, but "evil"?

There is a lot of evil out there, and being how GOD made you is not one of them. And if you dare say it is a choice, you need to be slapped right in that mudhole you call a mouth. It is a shame how distant people are from the real things that count in this world!

Let me get this straight, the church and the bible clearly have stated that homsexuality is wrong, based on man made laws and man made bibles, but there was a gay bishop in their mist? Hmm,,, how did that happen? There should be no problem for gay couples to marry, without all the hate that surrounds this issue. Anyone who lives differently from you, people have issues with it. We don't live in a communist society, but in a judgmental one, and the ones who judge the most are the haters of homosexuality. Saying that, I don't think this bishop should have special treatment, just because he is gay and lied about it for yrs. I don't understand why a bishop, member of a church, who must of preached homosexuality is wrong, suddenly come out of the closet? This world feeds off of hate, and lies, with man made bibles, while adultry, domestic violence, rapists, murderers, and molestors go free, or get a slap on the wrist.

I don't hate people who are gay or homosexual, I just think it is disgusting for two people of the same gender to engage in sexual relations!I If they would just be gay and leave the public displays out people wouldn't have to think about what is so upsetting to most. A peck on the cheek or whatever is fine and I feel the same amout hetros. Do what ever you want in private with your partner but that is where it belongs. At my childrens school hetros are not allowed to kiss but homo/gays are not stopped for fear of the accusation of discrimination???? NOW that is SPECIAL RIGHTS not equal and that is VERY frustrating?????

All of you that live in your perfect heterosexual worlds, let me just say one thing, I think most of these unions will make it far longer than heterosexual marriages do. You are a moron if you think this world is perfect and every thing round should fit squarely in it. Who are you people to sit on your pedestal and judge people, God did not make you better than others in case you have not learned that by now. Better stop or you may just wind up some place you wish not to go because of your dislike for people that just quite don't fit your standards as decent human beings. None of us truly knows was happens at the end, but being a good person while living and not judging people is a good place to start.

I am delighted to read a story that does not assume Gay-bashing as its premise. Sunshine 30, well said.

How telling that in this wonderful, liberal, humanist, Christian United States of ours that we can have such deep trauma associated with the poisoning of animal feed (justifiable, to be sure)...

And at the same time we stereotype and condone the blasting of entire populations such as gay people.

Do you know how if the doctor who saved your kid is gay?

If the person who let you use their kroger card is gay?

If your parent is a closeted gay?

Move toward peace, love and tolerance.

Stop teaching our next generations to hate the gays, Muslims, single black mothers, latino farm workers, stem cell researchers.

I am a Muslim, my best friends are Catholic, Jewish, Buddhist. My kids favorite teacher is lesbian. My husband is Methodist. Church at Easter, he fasts in Ramadhan. Our favorite babysitter is Latina, my work mentor is a black single mom.

This is the way forward to peace

The Bible is laced with all sorts of contradictions and tripe. Incidentally, those chicken sh*t Apostles all cowered, ran, and hid when Jesus rose from the tomb. It was the women who came to him first. Still, the crony Catholics want only men priests. As for you protester protestants with your million dollar preachers and your fat cat SUVs, might I remind you intolerant, gas bag bigots, that you try to pull the splinter out of your neighbor's eye without removing the log from your own eye first. Instead of being so damn judgmental and casting stones, start listening to your neighbor, do good to them, and accept the fact that gays are humans made in God's image...if you believe in that insipid Biblical crap which you all spew so venomously.

I worry more about the religious leaders who prey on children then two consenting adults being with one another.
