Collateral Genocide in Iraq »

Posted by: populist 2 years, 7 months ago

Of course our government didn't intend to commit genocide, it just sort of happened. The Iraqis kept getting in the way while we were trying to complete the mission. Mistakes were made as we were building democracy, but surely no genocide was intended.

And the downward spiral of the situation with the children in Iraq is horrible.

I posted several stories about it this week: children on drugs and involved in prostitution, children working for insurgents by getting paid to help make bombs (that are used on US troops), children that are SOLD into 'slavery' to Al Qaeda and other insurgent groups because the parents need the money for the rest of their family.

And, the Tigris river is polluted and full of dead bodies.

What the Bush administration has done to Iraq is way beyond impeachment and war crimes - it is evil and treacherous and murderous.

Good article, however I believe our Government did intend genocide. This invasion has never been about peace, It has been about profits for the neocons who lied us into shedding our children's blood.

What is happening in Iraq is not genocide. Genocide is deliberately going out and killing a specific group of people. Collateral damage is not deliberate even if it is deadly. Our military IS NOT targeting a specific group in Iraq. To even imply that is a GREAT insult to our troops who are VERY professional in spite of the few well publicized errors they have made.

It is perhaps mass murder, but is not genocide, which has a specific legal definition (despite the constant misuse and abuse of the term in popular culture). The USA has a specific goal, controlling the oil of Iraq, not a specific target to exterminate. If you interfere with our goal, you will suffer, regardless of race, creed, or color. There is no genocidal intent, per se.

The definition of Genocide is not one most college grads could give-- I couldn't. However, it is certainly something that one could conceive of using in the context of the current situation.

We all know that the current mass media are soooooo biased toward the left. The fact that they don't pursue this one more piece of evidence that they are, errrrr, well, not leaning so far to the left.

War is deadly to every one on this earth. It touches every body somehow and someway. There is just so much the people of the United States will put up with. This morning food prices have gone through the roof. Big fires in California, Georgia, Florida and floods from missouri which will go into New Orleans. I don't really care what ambitions our elected have but, it is evident that they do not care about any thing except to feather their nest with oil and power. One should not ignore the will of the people. Bring our Troops Home.

I am not a supporter of the war in Iraq, but I am a veteran and I have to say "War Is Hell". people die in a war whether or not they are actually targeted or not. And when you are in place such as Iraq and everyone pretty much looks alike. How do you tell the bad guys from the good? Children are the exception. Although in Viet Nam, many americans were killed by children carrying booby traps. Again, War is Hell.

It is their Private Hell and we have our own which has expanded. A friend of mine was almost killed by one of those children. They said he would never walk again. He got out of his chair and he ran. They said he would never serve the military again. He went on special forces. He later went through nine cancer operations and stayed in and out of this country fighting for what was right. He was addicted to his pain killers, but he didn't let it take him down from being the best he could be. He met his rest in 82. Some times you just have to leave the bad and the good to fight it out amongst themselves. We must take care of our country. Our home ground is what we know. War creates Genocide.
