May 11, 2007, 10:12 p.m.actually, they are not considered "health foods", but do have nutritional value to some extent. Only in America does the government and health fanatics want to ban foods that have been around since God knows. No other country obsesses over what not to eat, and they arent as obese either. They eat their chocolate, drink their wine, eat their fried porkskins, and still live a good life. Anything in moderation isnt a sin people, so get a life and eat what the hell you want.

May 12, 2007, 10:30 a.m.To what extent do they have nutritional value? It has been proven in many studies, and probably by the same group that did this study, that foods that are microwaved lose 90% to 100% of their nutritional value.
People average diets in other countries are nowhere close to ours. Also the obesity rates are increasing at 50% to 200% with the introduction of Americanized foods.
I don't think it is a sin, but rather a mistake to eat chemicals and synthesized foods. Our bodies are not designed to metabolize them.

May 14, 2007, 10:15 a.m.I never mentioned anything about a raw food diet. I don't think microwaves are "evil", but it has been proven that they reduce nutrients by 90% to 100%, as well as creates non metabolizing chemicals and carcinogen's from the containers they are cooked in. Cooking foods at lower temperatures and by conventional means are a much better way of preparing foods. It is true that some nutrients become more bioavailable, when cooked. But you are talking about two nutrients out of hundreds that are killed. Not a big enough pay off for me. I am a raw foodist, without flatulence. I have nothing against cooked foods or people who cook foods. It is a matter of choice and how they make you feel. There is also a problem with release of potentially toxic molecules into the food from packaging designed to help brown food during microwaving. This includes items such as pizza, French fries, waffles, popcorn and breaded fish ;; and these findings were determined by the FDA!

This site sites several studies in one article. There are other sites out there with a few more studies, but this has several condensed studies. It does not state the loss of 90% to 100% loss of nutrients, my mistake, but does show scientific evidence of 60% to 90% loss of nutrients. It also states the denaturing of the food. Microwaving food is not natural. As I said previously, I don't think microwave ovens are "evil" or cook food is a no no. I just know that uncooked food makes my body and mind feel better, as well as not having cold and/or flus for over four years is a big plus for me.
It is not for everybody, but at least don't microwave your food. Take time to prepare and eat your food and at least thank the people, the meat, veggies and grains for providing you nourishment.
Remember 4 things you must do in live, above everything else.
1. Breath air
2. Drink water
3. Eat Food
4. Eliminate them
Why not consume the best
