Google shareholders rejected a proposal on Thursday to require the search giant to set policies to protect freedom of access to the Internet and not self-censor.

Isn't that a oxymoron "good....lawyers" in the same sentence ...with just a few exceptions to the rule.

censorship ? Google already practices it, one of the many reasons I don't personally use it.

Almost every other engine censors in China - not sure why this is such a big deal.

It is a big deal because censorship is wrong. For example ABC quit outing the DC MADAME call list because Vice President Cheney and his top military advisor were on it. Don't you feel that the people of this country should know that? Disney did not and put the cabosh on the reporter at ABC.
