The remarks were made on their show Wednesday by a guest the duo call Homeless Charlie. As the name of each woman came up, the guest said he would like to have sex with her - using language not fit for print.

Opie and Anthony laughed as they imagined Rice's "horror" and what it would be like to hold her down and punch her in the face.

    Washington-based XM condemned the remarks.

"We deplore the comments made on Wednesday's 'Opie & Anthony Show,"' XM spokesman Nathaniel Brown told The Associated Press on Friday. He would not say whether XM planned to take disciplinary action.

Agreed. Imus was raked over the coals, he apologized, that should have been it. He made tasteless comments he shouldn't have made. He didn't advocate violence, prejudice, "hate" crimes, or anything else. He just said something stupid.

This, however, is something else. I'm amazed that these two have any audience left at all. Their prior profanities resulted in their ultimate destination on satellite radio. Fine. If I want to subscribe and listen or block their crap, fine. They should have the right to do and say whatever they want, and what their contractual partners allow. Fine.

But allowing not just demeaning, not just perverted, but hate-filled, violent acts against women? Is this a bridge that we really want to cross?

And to use the excuse that Homeless Charlie actually said it, they're not responsible? Pleeeaasssee! So we just add victimizing a very sad condition of too many people, those that need our compassion and help? Gimme a break!

This is the great thing about pay as you go radio. If Opie and Anthony lose listeners...THEY GO! I love it.

Just imagine what would happen to Bill Moyers and most of PBS if they had to rely on viewer ratings..rather than to be funded by our tax dollars!

Why are they apologizing? I thought the purpose of all these so called "shock jocks" moving to satellite radio was to avoid censorship?? The reason Imus was canned was because he made his remarks over public airwaves.
