Perverting Freedom: The Second Anniversary of Bush's Worst Bosh »

Posted by: populist 2 years, 6 months ago

Two years ago last month, Bush gave his second inaugural address. As I watched the speech on television, I and perhaps millions of other Americans struggled to answer the obvious question about the speech: Is it puerile or is it merely tripe?

The neocons have discovered that no lie is too big for America to swallow, even when the evidence that it is a lie is staring them in the face. And they are exploiting that for all it is worth.

Even the wisdom in most basic cliches has now been lost.

        "Don't take any wooden nickels!"

"Give me liberty or give me death!"

        "Mind your own business!"

        "Charity begins at home."

"A man's home is his castle."

        "Good fences make good neighbors."

"No man is above the law."

"Sticks and stones may break my bones,

But words will never hurt me.'

        "Be prepared."

I could go on and on, but let me close with the one everyone knows, and yet still ignores the most. With gratitude to our pal Murphy...

"Anything that can go wrong, will. And at the worst possible time."

Comparing Bush and his administration to Nazi's was right on the money. The 20 or so percent that beleive he still can't do any wrong will blindly follow him to what ever end without question. It's amazing how many people are so easily swayed.
