        Limited government never is.

Human behavior does not change just because politicians write a new law, except to circumvent the law. And the politicians have never, ever been convinced by this that the next law won't be any more effective than the last.

Respect for the law arises from society's ability to enforce the law. Any law that by its nature cannot be enforced, or a number of laws that decrease the ability to enforce all laws, only decrease the general respect for the law itself.

If ignorance of the law is no excuse, the law must be concise enough for an average person to know it. Even then, if God Himself has not succeeded with 10 Simple Rules, what chance is there that thousands of pages in the CFR will?

Excellent post populist, The founders of our nation understood the way power corrupts, that is why they wrote the Constitution and set things up the way they did. The foresight and understanding these men had of human nature was indeed inspired.
