May 13, 2007, 1:07 a.m."Judge ye not that ye be not judged".
Aren't those God's words?
I don't think it's your call, Popey.
Getting a little ahead of yourself there aren't you Benny Boy?
You ain't Number One yet. Only XVI.

May 13, 2007, 2:35 a.m.To quote former catholic George Carlin "I have as much power as the pope, just not as many followers.
Mick Jagger... no dope buyers, no dope dealers, "After all it was you and I that killed the Kennedys"

May 13, 2007, 9:07 a.m.Righto. But pedophile priests, well, God forgives...
"His Holiness" has aided and abetted pedophile priests for decades.

May 12, 2007, 9:31 p.m.God has retired. If we want to do anything about drugs, we have to do it ourselves.

May 13, 2007, 1:05 p.m.Abortions are a far cry better than all of the raped children, drugged out hookers and people who would otherwise be forced to 1)carry a child to term with the dangers that pregnancy can incure to themselves and the fetus; my sister has a medical condition that causes the fetus to litterly poison her; U think she should die over what some MAN wrote in the version of the bible the vatican 'pumps'. HA!
2) put ANOTHER child up for adoption in a current world society where girls are throwing their babies in the dumpsters and hardly anyone can afford the cost of living or adoption.
I would sooner hold the hands of every scared to death woman who goes through an abortion then punish the men on earth that are preventing the suffering of not just the parent (as often there's only 1 in those cases) but also the child that doesn't live until it takes a breath. Preventing a birth before it happens would only return the soul to the gulf so that it has a chance to be reborn to a true home.

May 13, 2007, 4:24 p.m.KelLuv,
You said, "God will punish the perverted priests too that was just swept under the rug.", and
YOU NAILED THE TRUTH ON THE HEAD!
This is one thing I see repeated again and again - people think they "get away" with something, just because they are not caught by someone here and now...., but
They conveniently "ignore the Truth", that God knows exactly what we do, and the other side of death, every wrong is punished by God.
If people would just figure that out - That they cannot ever get away with doing wrong! - we would have a much better world to live in.

May 12, 2007, 10:12 p.m.That's right--some micromanaging deity situated, well, where--up, up above?--is making a list and checking it twice, gonna find out whose naughty and nice...
Don't mean to disparage the Faithful, but really, the idea of the pope invoking a god, any god, as a kind of ultimate policeman/disciplinarian with the thought--belief?--that this will have a discouraging effect on earthly malefactors, not to mention the fundamental daftness of the proposition--well, it's all too painfully ABSURD.
Let's put the pope to work in, say, a health facility for the indigent, doing whatever is needed to ease their pain, for starters, so that he can actually be of use....

May 13, 2007, 1:49 a.m.For some reason I don't think a drug dealer making $100,000 a day on a corner is going to fear "divine punishment" form god's representative on earth or not money speaks.

May 13, 2007, 2:01 a.m.So I assume God is also going to punish Pfizer, Merck, GlaxoWellcome, Eli Lilly, Astra-Zeneca, etc.?? These guys are the real pros in drug dealing. They make the purveyors of illegal drugs look like kids with a lemonade stand by comparison. Some of their legal products kill more people every year than all the illegal drugs put together, and their useful products which people actually need are so expensive that some folks die because they can't afford them. Plus the pharmaceutical companies are the only people who can push speed on school children and be encouraged by the government to do so.

No.
"there are no atheists in foxholes!"
But there are platitudes galore!
Maybe atheists are smart enough not to be in foxholes.

May 13, 2007, 9:51 a.m.wonder where i got my sense of irony...?
That's an old story and I wonder if Gramps is alive and kicking somewhere in a retirement community.
But I suppose you are trying to make your sense of irony seem more believable, instead of saying, "I got this email a couple of years back that read....."

May 13, 2007, 11:18 a.m.All religious belief is grounded in fear. Fear of death and what happens next. Perhaps if there was no religion, people would feel more at ease about getting old and dying.

May 13, 2007, 6:57 a.m.How many drug dealers give a damn what the pope has to say? I doubt that the pope ever enters their minds at all. All they care about is all the money that they can make from their drugs.

May 13, 2007, 8:27 a.m.This is what I despise about religion....you have a bloke here who will do his best to cover up child abuse and vicious sex acts performed by Roman Catholic priests on small children, and then tell the world this load of garbage about drug dealers.
How the hell would he know what God will do?
Just another religious hypocrite.

May 13, 2007, 9:02 a.m.Ann, I'm always amazed when people reply to other people's posts with a personal...well, in this case, MINI-rebuke.
My usefulness--to myself, my friends, my cats--isn't really the issue, as I have nothing like the pope's sway. Like you, I'm just (or "just") another human who is trying...trying...well, let's leave it at that.

May 13, 2007, 9:32 a.m.Reasons I dislike libfighter:
1.trying to divide people into political groups
2.Not staying on topic
3.Saying George Bush is trusted by God, when we all know he lied about numerous issues to get us to war.
4. Saying only conservatives are on the "good" side and concerned with making this world better
The story is about the pope saying drug traffickers will be punished by God. Will someone please explain to me if bible says says 144,000 people will go to heaven(Revelation 7:4; 14:1, 3) why are catholics trying to help everyone get in? It seems really exclusive in heaven so the more drug traffickers the better. I want to get in. All you others KEEP SINNING.
