May 12, 2007, 1:24 p.m.Clarke's a real jerk. Maybe someday this will see the full light of day. Blair and Bush are no better than the leaders of any of these middle eastern countries. This is exactly what happens in any of those countries when they don't like what you print.

May 12, 2007, 4:24 p.m.How nice it must be to declare all your crimes "state secrets!"
I am still waiting for the criminal courts to be deluged with the "let's not focus on the past, let's not play the blame game, it is time to focus on moving forward" defense.

May 12, 2007, 4:47 p.m.There is many things in US presidents past that are not published or divulged. Bush can hide a lot, but eventually most of his shenanigans will come to light. We all agree that he's a moron who only does things in HIS best interest, not for any beneficial reasons to society or our nation especially. He just needs to get out of the office once and for all.

May 12, 2007, 4:48 p.m.when two men are sitting in a room talking, even if they say the worst, most hateful things ever said in the history of the earth, that is not a crime.
actions are crimes, words and thoughts are not. I know we have hate crime legislation in America right now, but that is unconstitutional for this very reason.
the story said bush was angry and ranting about doing terrible things to al jazeera. by the time the conversation was over blair had convinced him otherwise. it was just a conversation. nothing happened. there was no crime. there is no news.
if you can produce a connection btwn the deaths of these other journalists and any govt other than innuendo, then that will be a story.

May 12, 2007, 7:42 p.m.Lets hope that both Bush and Blair never have a moments peace for what they have done and spend the rest of their miserable little lives looking over their shoulders wondering when and where they will be brought to justice in some obscure little place while being held in a cozy 6 X 8 cell.

May 12, 2007, 8:50 p.m.As much as I despise Bush/Cheney I find this story hard to believe. If it is true another reason for impeachment.
Even with this possiblility our elected representatives would still sit on their duffs collecting royalties from lobbyist, fabulous medical plan, early retirement, lucrative job offers for influence peddleing, fat pension, need I say more. We are a nation of corruption and the powers that are and will be in your grandchildrens future.
Now for you conservatives pray to Bush since he epitomizes your god of war, death, misery and destruction. The religious will refute this argument saying, "God loves Bush."

May 12, 2007, 9:38 p.m.As far as I am concerned, during wartime, any news source that is helping the enemy spread propaganda against us should be shut down....that goes for al Jazeera, CNN, the New York Times....any news agency who is aiding, abetting, giving encouragement or national secrets to the enemy needs to be closed for treason or sedition or for being part of the enemy.....

May 12, 2007, 9:49 p.m.It is absolutley wrong to bomb a television station, because you disargree with the programming. Anyone who conspires to commit murder should not be held above the law.
It was said that if we pulled out of Vietnam, Australia would become Communist. Instead Vietnam has a booming economy, while the American Economy remains flat.
By the commnets of some of the right wing Republican Party bloggers, they can go back to their All Amerian eight dollar an hour job at Walmart. I don't really care if they listen to Ralph Limbargh in thier 10 miles to the gallon 2001 Green Ford Pickup truck.
The billions of dollars that were sent into an endless vortex of Bagdad style violence, at at a time when public schools can't afford heat bills has become the American Dream.

May 12, 2007, 11:47 p.m.In April, 2004 during the battal for Fallujah, Al Jazeera was one of the few news outlets broadcasting from inside the besieged city, and its exclusive footage was being broadcast by every network from CNN to the BBC. Al Jazeera's Ahmed Mansur and his cameraman Laith Mushtaq were inside Fallujah, reporting unembedded from the streets for the entire siege. In this Democracy Now! exclusive, they speak about their experience for the first time in an in-depth interview. [includes rush transcript]
Question, what good would it do to bomb an al-Jazeera, a TV station located in the country of Qatar when the broadcast are world wide.
This story lacks facts and credibility. There is no named source, they claim there is a "memo" that they haven't seen and they don't have it of but claim to know that it is stamped "Top Secret" and what is in the memo, how covenant.
And to top that off The Mirror is the same rag that put out the bogus, fake Downing Street Memo!!

May 13, 2007, 1:19 a.m.This is crazy. The US couldn't get away with bombing a TV station in a neutral country and Bush knows it.
It is common for the military to war game various ideas. This is obviously one of those ideas. And obviously one thought up by someone not too bright.
Don't worry. It will not get past the planning stage unless Bush is a total lunatic which he isn't.

May 13, 2007, 1:57 a.m.Libfighter. So you think it is all right for Al Qaeda to take out TV stations they don't like? If not, what gives us the right and not them?
