Posted by: bubba2 2 years, 5 months agoToday, Sen. Chuck Hagel said, "The 11 Republicans who went to see him speak for more than just 11 Republicans. That's just the tip of the iceberg." Hagel said that Bush "may find himself standing alone sometime this fall," noting that several conservatives are beginning to back "trap doors and exit signs" to withdraw U

May 13, 2007, 1:59 p.m.I know many of the conservative voices, or at least the most vocal ones around here and in the public at large, posit that Hagel is bad for the GOP and party cohesion. From my limited perspective, Hagel reminds me of the type of conservative that used to be in the majority within the Republican ranks, and he comes off as a fairly rational and reasonable person. Somtimes I agree with him and sometimes I don't, but I can respect him nonetheless. It's a pity he didn't throw his hat into the presidential ring.

May 14, 2007, 10:06 a.m.January 2009 America has 250,000 troops in Iraq and less than 100 republican congresmen in the congress and 20 in the senate.
Iraq spells political death for the Republicans.

May 14, 2007, 12:17 p.m.I've been with Hagel all the way. A decorated war hero, statesman and rational republican. He's right on all the issues most importantly Iraq & national security. An enlightened republican of the Ford, Eisenhower mold, who almost from the beginning was standing up for us against the neocons.
The neocons fooled most of America for a while but they didn't fool Hagel.

May 14, 2007, 3:55 p.m.The dimwits who got us into Iraq are the only ones who want to stay there. The Iraqi parliament (what a joke) are going to take a 2 month summer recess and just recently by a small margin voted to expell our occupation army!
So most Americans want this to end, the Iraqis want this to end, the whole western world is laughing at us for undertaking such a repulsive endeavor and the only one I heard besides Bush and the neocons who want us to stay is Osama Bin Ladens right hand man who hopes America's stays because it helps there recruiting and supplies them with targets. I feel for our soldiers they are the pawns in this sad debacle
