May 15, 2007, 1:54 p.m.IN regards to military spouses. The wives and children live a pretty unstable life if they choose to live on base. For those that dont, it is very lonely and it's like having no husband at all. Not to mention the military domestic abuse accounts that go unreported, and those that are, there is no real action taken to prevent it.
On the other hand, I believe that if the partners knew beforehand what this life would entail, they shouldnt have gotten married if they suspect they truly wouldnt be happy. Goes to show, dont let love be the only key factor in making a lifelong commitment. Be practical as well.

May 15, 2007, 2:48 p.m.My husband of 40 years retired from the military where he spent three tours in Vietnam. He was always in a mobil unit when he was state side. He was gone a lot but we were still happy and well adjusted. All our 5 children graduated from college plus they excelled at music, sports and are supurb civic leaders. Our children actually benifited from his devotion to our country, they have a respect for the flag, the military and freedom that some people seem to ignore these days. I think it is what you make it and what your standards are. Plus those reunions with him were pretty awsome.

May 16, 2007, 6:09 a.m.Somehow the title got a little cut off @ the wrong word, but if you look @ the title of this page in your browser, it says |were "whining", denies critizing them|... BTW, there's also a follow up story where she says she was crying and heartbroken...
