May 14, 2007, 9:05 a.m.This is really strange. In Delaware, antique license plates are a collector's item. The lower the number, and year stamped on the plate the more it is prized. I know one man that bought a DE plate for $350. It was a 1938 plate with the number 418.

it was a charitable contribution you ignorant oaf. next time you point a finger at somebody who is doing better for the world, you should take a look in the mirror and ask yourself how much good your bigotry has helped people in need.

May 14, 2007, 9:08 p.m."The auction's proceeds go to charity activities overseen by the government of the oil-exporting nation." Nothing suspicious about that statement at all.
We are talking about people who have made Billions and all of the people who live in their nations, are starving.
As they drive by in their Diamond encrusted Rolls, they tell the locals that Americans are stealing their oil.
Instead of spending money on helping the people of their nations, they buy weapons.

May 14, 2007, 7:26 p.m.What a waste! It's really a shame that some people have so much money that they could light their cigars with $ 1000 bills and then we have some people who live in one room shacks not knowing where their next meal will come from.

May 15, 2007, 7:03 a.m.You know, stuff like this just makes me think, "How selfish"! There are millions of starving people on this wonderful planet....and there is someone stupid enough to pay 7 million for a license plate. Something is not right in this world y'all.

May 15, 2007, 12:28 p.m.man this story is interesting but you guys have to take it easy with all of the negative comments....i mean it is good to debate matters like this but it seems that most of you (supabro15) are more worried about boasting your inteligence rather than the actual matter at hand, which in turn makes you look like a jackass....people do have the right to their own opinion.

May 15, 2007, 4:01 p.m.It's really easily to say that this CEO bought something at a CHARITY event without disclosing what the charity is. If it's like most charities in the U.S., most of the money goes in the back pockets of the administrators. As an example, I refer to the United Way.
