Soldiers get sprained ankles, torn ligaments and stress fractures just like competitive athletes, so the Army is opening a laboratory that applies the science of sports medicine to the battlefield.

    The first-of-its-kind military lab is designed to figure out how soldiers get hurt and develop programs to prevent injuries.

    The Department of Defense found that musculoskeletal injuries - sprains, tears, fractures - accounted for more than half of all unintentional injuries to soldiers, Lephart said.

      what accounted for the other half? Too lazy to read the story.

        How about opening a similar lab to figure out how Iraqi civilians are pulled out of their cars and shot to death or how Iraqi homes are invaded, women raped and then entire family shot to death?.

        Hey this should work both ways.

        Are we not the champions of democracy, human rights and civility?
