I guess "Commander-in-Chief" is only a symbolic title.

            From his Bio:

"Multi-national Brigade East in Kosovo for 6 months in 2002 before being assigned to US European Command in January 2003 as the Deputy Director of Operations.

In June 2004, he began more than two years as Director of Operations (J-3) at US Central Command during which he oversaw combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as other operations in the Middle East, Central Asia, and the Horn of Africa. He assumed duties as Director of Operations, the Joint Staff, in September 2006."

He can talk with all levels of the CIA and General Staff on what they feel is the real facts on the ground. He may not see this war in the same way that the present Command has. Lets hope he has some new views from Kosovo maybe direct support of training for Iraqi Forces like the Baker-Hamilton plan called for.

Remember Gen. Haig had special control duty in the Nixion administration, and Gen. Westmoreland was also brought up after doing CIA briefings for the JCS.

Isn't it weird that Conservatives are always wanting to appoint Czars? What does that say?

Reagan gave us a Drug Czar, and what a success that has been.

Signs of more Dubya mismangement: first, he names an admiral in charge of Central Command, then he realizes the Admiral can't manage a ground war so Hadley recommends a War Czar to him.

Previous worse example: Dubya gave the recovery mission to the Pentagon which was a State Department mission and Rummy had Brememr fire the Iraqi bureacracy and miltary to send a million Iraqis into the insurgent roles.

Please, can you few sycophant Republicans in Congress allow us to impeach this fool president now before he can mismanage/kill more?

Can't assign functions properly and continues to use and promote his cronies! IMPEACH NOW!

While Rome Burned I understand Nero played the Lute, since the Fiddle had not yet been invented.

A Lute appointed by a Lyre

                    GREAT HAPPENINGS THAT NEVER HAPPENED

Nero Didn't Fiddle While Rome Burned.

Rome may have burned, but Nero didn't fiddle.

It is only an unfounded rumor, albeit an old one, that the mad Emperor Nero started a fire near the imperial palace and then climbed to the top of the Tower of Maecenas, where he gleefully played his fiddle, sang arias from his own execrable operas, and watched the city go up in flames. True, Nero did fancy himself a poet and musician, and often summoned audiences to attend recitals of his composition. But according to the contemporary historian and chronicler Tacitus, the fire which gutted Rome in 64 A.D. could not possibly have been Nero's doing; at the time it broke out, Nero was at his villa in Antium 30 mi. away. Besides, the violin wasn't even invented until the 16th century, although in some versions of the tale Nero plays a lute or lyre.
