Al Gore Will Be Swift-Boated Next Week. Guaranteed »

Posted by: Neophile 2 years, 7 months ago

On Monday, Al Gore has a new book coming out next week, titled, "The Assault On Reason". Because he is standing up, telling the truth and because he simply is a Progressive leader, he will be smeared mercilessly by the right-wing smear machine. They will tease and make fun of him. But what they will not do: TALK ABOUT WHAT'S IN THE BOOK.

Here it comes again. For example, I'm imagining Gore writing something in his book such as, "I know many of the issues we see being addressed today are not based on societal concerns, but invented by groups with agendas to influence our politics to their narrow benefit."

Then Fox News will do their special brand of summarization and we'll see the news crawl stating:

"Gore says: 'I invented politics.' "

From there, it'll get fed through their echo chamber and within 48 hours, you'll hear it written or stated verbatim by even your republican friends and family.

This is just an example, but I can't wait to see what out-of-context, made up nonsense the true believers get fed to fuel their outrage for a few more minutes, until the next dose.

Who cares what the 'right wing' says? They're freaks. Nothing more. As for Gore, it's nice he found his voice. Too bad it took so long.

The book is not out yet.

No one has attacked Mr. Gore or the book at this point.

The editorial is a preemptive attack on the perceived political enemies of Mr. Gore, perhaps hoping to forestall criticism, but more likely to prepare an "I told you this would happen" (and therefore meaningless) type of defense.

In short, the editorial is a meaningless exercise, but it allows its authors to advance the fiction that they and their cause are being mistreated. That hasn't happened yet, but, hey, its never too early to start whining.

On the other hand, I wonder why a paid Netscape Navigator consistently posts articles of low quality.

I look forward to the fray. PRESIDENT Gore has my respect as a human and a legitimate public servant.

There are genuine policy issues that people can disagree with Gore over. NAFTA and the Telcom Act are just two examples. However, people would have to actually do the research and find out what those things are, who was responsible for the components of the legislation, and end up forming a more educated - but much less simplistic and one-sided - viewpoint.

Since that takes too much time and effort, people settle for the silly manufactured "issues", such as Gore claiming to invent the Internet, wearing earth-tone clothing during his campaign (Gore's reinventing himself!) and so on.

                              Intellectual laziness.

It amazes me that people haven't learned how politicians or the gov. operate yet. One crowd take the bate hook line and sinker, thinks that people are the cause of global warming and the other crowd has a more open mind in what the causes of global warming are. One view gives the gov. the opportunity to impose more control and the other view is that we can't change the Earths climate on a global scale and that there are other forces of nature at work. If you believe that we are the cause, answer this why is Mars experiencing global warming at a faster rate than Earth?

The planet Mars is undergoing significant global warming, new data from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) show, lending support to many climatologists' claims that the Earth's modest warming during the past century is due primarily to a recent upsurge in solar energy.

The 'argument' that man is not causing global warming, so there is nothing we need to do about it, is fallacious.

Let's say that man is not 'directly' responsible for global warming (due to carbon emissions and deforestation and pollution).

Even so, to go on and say that we don't need to do anything about it, or that we can't do anything about it, is nothing more than laziness and irresponsibility.

We can STILL do something to stop the dependency on OIL and to reduce pollution and take care of our environment, because DOING that will STILL make our planet MORE livable.

To use the "its not our fault" excuse to absolve ourselves of any need to do anything positive or constructive for our world is ludicrous.

Al Gore will be critiqued, and rightfully so, he is a buffoon, as is his wife, I guess you libs don't remember 20 plus years ago when Tipper attempted to censure the recording industry(pre hip hop)for material she deemed offensive...big record burning campaign in Knoxville and around the state, pushed hard for the removal/banning of artist such as Led Zepplin/Stones et. al. settled for "labeling".

Dosn't quite jib with liberal talking points does it?
