Maybe Stewart & Colbert are trying to stir up some imagination, creativity, and who knows, they may scare up a few Einstein's, by getting people to laugh at themselves & be a little more open minded to change & the unknown possibilties. To color outside the box.

Where are our Rod Sterling's & Alfred Hitchcock's?

're-birthing intelligence'. It was funny, thanks trnscndr.

I think they are lampooning the seriousness and self absorption of the political and media classes.

They are sending us to bed laughing, while using real clips from absurd people..George Bush is the best thing to ever happen to them, since he provides 25% of the material. His supporters and admimnistration provide another 25%.

              Great story B.

I wish I remembered half of what I knew when I was 18.

I think in these two guys the spirit of one of the great orators of old lives on.

Imagine how torqued the rulers of Athens would have been if Socrates had been on TV.

It's like what Bill Clinton said when he was on TDS. "According to my daughter, TDS is the choice for discerning, intelligent college students across America."

The truth is those two shows have the highest IQ audiences on TV, including PBS. Fox was the lowest.

Ben Franklin was equally a scallywag and prankster in his time. Even Einstein liked a good joke and made intelligent fun of ignorant people.

Jon, and Stephen are at their best when they let the clips speak for themselves.

Usually when it comes to interviewing a person they resort to asking corny questions ;-)

Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert can be funny. But their entire routines are sarcasm. The fake "news" they tell is very one-sided and can only be taken with a grain of salt.

For example, the featured Steven Colbert clip on this website is about an opinionated movie being shown in a science class. I want to see a science movie made by Al Gore as much as I want to see Steven Hawking run for president.

The show will probably run out of "good" material when Bush and Cheney leaves office.

Theb world is not a simple place and their greatest and only real contribution beyond well deserved satire is to repeatedly point that out in the face of people who shout phony sound bite factoid simplicities to the contrary and insist that we have faith in the bites and not in what our own hopefully educated minds are telling us

The politically informed watch Colbert and Stewart and laugh knowingly. The obtuse shake their heads wondering what all the fuss is about. So, the obtuse can't be educated by either of these guys. The obtuse become confused and switch back to Fox. :-)

The thing I like about both of them is that they encourage people to watch the real news. They like to give commentary, but they prefer for their viewers to be informed by (credible) people other than themselves.

Those at Fox should tell their viewers to watch the real news too. That way the'd actually have informed viewers.

I maintain the daily show is closer to real news than anything else in MSM right now. And hilarious too.

Tom Delay thought Colbert was really on his side and quoted him until someone told him it was a parody.

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are just the most entertaining take on the happenings of our world that there is currently available. Sure, they are going after the Bush Administration right now. But if the Bushies didn't act so foolish, it would be impossible. And they also go after liberals, religion, and just about anything else that makes the news.

They are not raping the mind of America, they are amusing those of us who have minds. And rebirthing intelligence? Good luck if you can get people to change the channel from that Fox hole.
