The motorist group said the average price for a gallon of self-serve unleaded gasoline rose to $3.103 in its latest reading, which is based on a daily survey of purchases at up to 85,000 gas stations. That's up from Tuesday's record of $3.087 a gallon. Prices are now up 2.3 percent in just the last week and 8.6 percent over the last month.

The refinery problems include fires, power outages, and longer than usual maintenance periods.

With Memorial day and the summer driving period just ahead, prices will only continue to rise. What I am afraid of is a tropical storm/hurricane in the gulf that could close or wipe out production further. $5.00 gas may not be to far off.

We should all get together and "boycott" all Gas Comanies on Memorial Day.

Boycotting unfortunately will not work, we all need gas sometime. What needs to happen is a gas war. We collectively as a group have to choose one company ( the most expensive ) to not buy from untill they lower thier prices and so on.

If Bush had any intelligence at all, he would release some of the US reserves in order to bring the price down. That is what every president has done in the past to try and lower high gas prices.

Bush won't do it though because he hasn't the brains God gave a sponge. Also the money.

Seriously, I'm trying to start an electrical business and gas prices are killing my profits.
