May 16, 2007, 4:39 p.m.I think it should be the peoples choice. Honest opinion. We have too many laws that take away our freedoms. Obviously we don't want outbreaks of std's but people have to be careful.

May 16, 2007, 5:36 p.m.I live in costa rica where prostitution is legal , safe and no big deal. NO street walkers or pimps. You can walk into a bar and sit and have a drink talk with whom ever you like if you like each other you make a deal and walk out together. It is so sad that there is such a stigma attached to it in the states. I have met many nice women who i am friends with and have never taken home. Some that I have taken home and am still friends with. I can call go to dinner with a beautiful woman and no one cares, Of course there are a few problems with some guys that just can't take no for an answer but they soon learn and move on.
But a friend and i were talking one day at a local bar and I ask him why this couldn't work in the states and he said " well the main problem is the women would be American." So there you go.

May 16, 2007, 7:06 p.m.While your original poll was not bad you are missing one essential element when analyzing your outcome - the people responding to your poll were a self-selecting sample and, therefore, your numbers are not scientific nor representative of the population in general.
This being said, why prostitution is illegal and unregulated is beyond me.

May 16, 2007, 7:36 p.m.Legalize prostitution, tax the employees, and let the workers form their own labor union. As for the management (aka pimps) I suggest they be put on furlough.

May 16, 2007, 8:08 p.m.This will work only if we execute those who pork under the table.
It's stealing money from public, that's treason, that means execution.

May 16, 2007, 8:22 p.m.I do know that if I wine and dine a girl and show her a good time i might get lucky, and if I dont show her a good time I probably won't, so exactly what is the difference between dating and prostitution??

May 16, 2007, 9:52 p.m.What is the difference between dating and prostitition? A lot. If you are dating are girl just to get into her pants then you are the prostitute not her. If however, you are dating her because she interests you and then you get in your pants, different story. Sex is multple times better when you have some type of relationship with the lady. Prostitution occurs when the sole purpose is to have sex. At least this is my feeling on the subject, so there lol.

May 16, 2007, 10:10 p.m.The poll was in no way scientific. In fact the questions were loaded--not to mention who goes to a sex site anyway? I disagree with prostitution, because it turns women into servants/slaves. Sex is a commodity manufactured by women. Some think women are all ******s anyway, so what's the difference? Well, the way women are treated, and they way they refuse to stand up for themselves, they seem to take on the role.

May 16, 2007, 10:25 p.m.New Zealand has adopted a more relaxed approach to prostitution, legalizing brothels in a number of places.
Such regulation seems to be going OK so far, I gather.
Perhaps lessons can be learned from other countries' experiences, or is this not the American way?

May 16, 2007, 10:42 p.m.My opinion about prostitution is not my motivation for posting. The article stated that 86% approved of prostitution. The reality however is that only 14% believe legalizing prostition is "the end of morality and decency." How about, I don't believe prostitution is should be legalized but I dont think doing so will mark the end of morality merely a step in the wrong direction. Proof postive that you can make a poll say whatever you want it to say simple by manipulating wording of the question. Ill put it another way Ill bet you three thousand dollars that a poll which simply reads "should prostitution be legalized Yes or NO" will result in less than 70 per cent in favor of legalization. From a random sample , which the far left leaning visitors of Netscape do not represent would garner support only barely above 50%.

YES.

May 17, 2007, 12:02 a.m.Oldest profession yet despised by "Some". The "Some" are actually the clients and patrons which include clergy, politicians, lawyers, doctors, professors, bankers and the list goes on and on.
You know what that all boils down to, Religious hypocrisy.

May 17, 2007, 12:04 a.m.When you all come to Nevada, don't hide or lurk in the dark.
Go to the Bunny Ranch. By the way the U.S. government owned it for awhile, so have a nice day.

May 17, 2007, 12:34 a.m.we elect politicians who prostitute themselves to get the vote
We listen to talk radio hosts who protitute themselves to make the big$$
We deal with brokers, judges, even preachers who prostitute themselves to impose their will on you.
So what's so bad about paying someone tp have a little sexual fun - benifitting both parties?
-

aceofspades1
May 17, 2007, 12:36 a.m.oh by the way the biggest pimps are the courts that impose fines upon prostitutes forcing them to earn the $$ to pay by prostituting themselves

May 17, 2007, 6:28 a.m.How could an American woman get a guy to marry her if men could get it elsewhere with a lot less trouble and probably less expense in the long run? I heard on the radio that Germany legalized prostition around 2002. Probably true.
