May 16, 2007, 12:34 p.m."go ahead without Justice Department approval..." I can't think of anything to say. This sure seems like impeachable offense to me. Can he have thought this would never come out? Has he given no thought whatsoever to his "legacy?" Does he want to supercede Nixon at the top of the "Yes, I AM a crook." list of U.S. Presidents?

May 16, 2007, 12:35 p.m.This administration is corrupt from top to bottom. Breaking the law is no problem for anyone there. Although Nancy Pelosi said impeachment is off the table, I suggest it be put back on the table. This is a national - make that international - disgrace and should not be tolerated.

May 16, 2007, 1:21 p.m.I wouldn't put it past Rove to have hoped to use this information to solicit campaign donations - or to target folks unsympathetic to Emperor Bush's cause.

May 16, 2007, 2:27 p.m.Refreshing to see so many comments on point with the story.
If I ever run into a case where illegal evesdropping was used, then I must acquit because it doesn't fit.

May 16, 2007, 2:51 p.m.This president is about 2 steps from a dictatorship.
He can sign any bill the Congress sends him, then say he is not going to abide with the provisions he doesn't agree with, that's what he has done in the past.
we need to revise the Presidential oath of office to include the provision that he swears to obey the laws that Congresssends him and he signs into law.

May 16, 2007, 3:13 p.m.Any body who continues to defend George Bush should seriously question their sanity. And if they don't I will. This is serious, dangerous and illegal activity that Bush and his gang are engaging in. The apologists can keep throwing up Clinton's name all they want, but it's desperate move and is not going to work. People see through that smokescreen. Sure, Clinton had his faults. But he stayed within the law and didn't spit on the Constitution.

May 16, 2007, 4:18 p.m.Well, it looks like the "DECIDER" is alive and well - comfortable in his own delusions and oblivious to the scaredness of the US Constitutiom...
How long are we, the American people, prepared to live with these continuing assaults on our Constitution?

May 16, 2007, 4:44 p.m.and once again we come back to B.Franklin's words of wisdom:
"those that would give up liberty to purchase a little security deserve neither."
mr. Bush, do not spy on me and my countrymen while telling us it is for our own good. i would take my chances with the terrorists any day of the week before taking away "government by the people and for the people." We are not your subjects. You work for us... but only for two more years thank God.

May 16, 2007, 5:24 p.m.How many people here know that the Patriot Act allows the government to enter your home without a warrant and without your knowledge and search through your belongings and possibly incriminate you if they so desire? So, if you take a vacation, don't be surprised if the government entered your home to take a little peak.

May 16, 2007, 5:25 p.m.Eavesdropping is a grave felony and anyone who has fallen into that mistake should be brought to justice. Not even in case of declared war among nations eavesdropping into privet citizens is allowed. There should be a gentleman's attitude even in the face of terrorism. If we do good to each other terrorism has little chance of survival.

May 16, 2007, 5:44 p.m.Impeachment proceedings must be started immediately in order to put the full resources of the Constitution into investigating this whole thing.
It is time to rid the White House of these vermin.

He can never do anything up front or legit, he always waits till they are in recess, on a weekend, declares an emergency or is on their death bed.

May 16, 2007, 7:55 p.m.Keep on Bashing the President!! At the end of the day his most important role is as Commander and Chief and to protect this great republic we live in. He will do whatever it takes to protect this fine country because the constitution will mean nothing if we are no longer a country. If there was a good reason to impeach, trust me, Nancy Pelosi would be doing her part.
