Ron Paul gets turn in spotlight at U.S. Republican debate »

Posted by: populist 2 years, 5 months ago

Paul initiated an exchange with Giuliani by implying U.S. policies in the Middle East had contributed to the attacks in New York and Washington. "Have you ever read about the reasons they attacked us? They attack us because we've been over there. We've been bombing Iraq for 10 years," he said.

I wonder if this guy is the GOP's version of Joe Lieberman, more popular with the opposing party than his own?

    Paulmentum?

Faux News went into pure hysterical mode of denial when he took an immediate lead in their 'poll' after the debate, and kept it.

Entire Republican Party had hissy fit that he could say that U.S. foreign policy had something to do with the 9/11 attacks.

"NO, NO, NO, we are innocent, and they attacked us because they hate our FREEDUMB."

And he avoided saying anything about Israel or Saudi Arabia. Imagine if he had confronted them with the whole truth? He would be the nominee by default, because the whole bunch of them would have stroked out, right there on dais.

I'm always suspicious of Republicans, but I find myself agreeing with him on most issues, and he has guts and most of our politicians are bought and paid for by corporations no matter what party they are in.

"Paul said: "I'm suggesting we listen to the people who attacked us and the reason they did it."

Right. Terrorists never lie. Given Paul's grasp of reality and "patriotism", he should be with the Dems.

First time I watched Paul and he was impressive and quite literate and pragmatic. Personally, he has shown more ethical behavior than any of the other abysmal Republican. When he talked about past Republicans and their avowed hatred for wars, while now the Republicans are hawks, he was stark true and refreshing.

Rudy, what can I say? He is such a typical repugnent Republican who attempts to use 9/11 to his advantage. Folks all he did was walk around the streets of New York with a face mask and you call him a "Hero". Remember the first attack on the world trade center? Rudy then put the Emergency center in the world trade center which was destroyed in the second attack. Would you really want this idiot as your leader?

He thought he had Paul with that obvious political statement. You could just see the look on Rudys face, an obnoxious smirk and self satisfaction grin that appealed to the illiterate and hawkish conservatives. Republicans were once a party of peace.

Uh, nope, sorry guys. Read his voting record. He votes a straight republican ticket the vast majority of the time. Not 100% of the time, but over 75% of the time.

you gotta look on more than the front page.

At any rate, it's odd that the Conservative 'media' is harping on him a lot, and keeping him out of polls, which he wins the bulk of the time (2nd in FOX poll but 1st in MSNBC poll).

I mean, Republicans want someone who represents their values, right?

It's pretty obvious he does, and the others are lukewarm at best. It looks bad when Newt wants to jump in.
