May 17, 2007, 10:32 a.m.I get a kick out of "The Republicans are just getting what is coming to them".
Why can't the dems just define their own existence instead of just duplicating a system that they openly criticized?
Are they trying to beat "stupid" by being "double stupid"?

May 17, 2007, 11:25 a.m.If you read the whole article the writer notes that both Parties are guilty of this. I know that this makes the conservative Right drool, but the fact is that both Parties do this the second they get in power. It's all about power and keeping power, which is related of course to money and getting more money.
Both Parties do it, both Parties are responsible. Vote out every incumbent next election!
UP THE REVOLUTION!!!

May 17, 2007, 11:28 a.m."Just last December, House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.) declared that Democrats "intend to have a Rules Committee ... that gives opposition voices and alternative proposals the ability to be heard and considered on the floor of the House."
If this sounds familiar, it is. Republicans made similar promises in 1994, only to renege when they took control of the Congress in 1995."
Unfortunately, politicians are what they are. To try to turn this into a one-sided partisan issue is absurd and small-minded. Republicans made the same promises 13 years ago, won control of Congress and then failed to follow through. Democrats have had control for less than half a year. Although I'm not going to bet the farm on them, I think they are entitled to a more reasonable time to make some more serious changes.

Sorry, there are so many flights of fancy here, I thought I was watching faux spews.
The democrats haven't made good on any campaign promises?
what about these FACTS from the congressional website?
The new House worked across party lines to pass legislation to:
Make Americans safer here at home
* We made our very first vote the implementation of the independent, bipartisan 9/11 Commission national security recommendations.
Make our economy fairer
* We voted to increase the minimum wage for the first time in 10 yearsâ;;to give American workers an overdue pay raise.

May 17, 2007, 3:28 p.m.I really don't understand someone defending the Democrats by arguing "but Gingrich did it!!!!" That is the reasoning of a 10 year old arguing with thier parents that won't let them do something their friend does.
When you criticize something someone is doing as immoral and wrong and then do it yourself the FIRST CHANCE you get you have lost your position of "moral superiority". You democrats who support your party of liars, thieves, and surrender monkeys just do not get it. They LIED to you!
They promised they would restore fair government and they haven't.
They promised they would get us out of Iraq and they haven't.
They promised they would stop pork spending and tacked on $40 billion in pork to a military spending bill.
They promised they would give you more money but yet gas prices are higher than ever, mininum wage increased while nothing else did, and the middle class got NOTHING.

Well let the change begin with me. I truly love this country too much to see it torn apart like this. I hope others will try with me.

May 17, 2007, 4:56 p.m."Members of the majority, meanwhile, argue that they are only trying to overcome the minority's obstructionist tactics to bring down legislation that is popular with a bipartisan majority of the House as a whole."
I have felt for a long time now, this whole partisan nonsense has been prevalent and accepted for too long. Our illustrious Commander and Leader had spouted for a bipartisan government from the very beginning of his term, yet all I hear from his lips is a constant stream of finger pointing and blame placing on the opposing party. Leader says monkeys follow? Is it right? I don't think anyone would agree so. That they all do it, well there it is.

May 17, 2007, 10:11 p.m.It would seem that the new congress is just like the old congress; bitch, stall and or ignore while getting paid well by the voter's to do so. What a non-surprise.

May 18, 2007, 1:42 a.m.How terribly unfair. These newly elected Democrats are doing at least a few of the things that the Republican Majority did to them for so many years. How could they?
