Attorneys for Cheney and others said any conversations they had with reporters about Plame were part of their normal job duties because they were engaging in an appropriate "policy dispute." Cheney's attorney argued that Cheney is legally akin to the president because of his unique role, and has absolute immunity from any lawsuit.

I'm curious. It seems to me that they want immunity for outing a spy. One of OUR spies. And they are claiming that is a normal part of their duties?

I think it was more like: "Mr. Wilson was criticizing government policy"

So any any action taken by Cheney was totally lawful, since he belongs to the government.

To think they tried to impeach Clinton because he had sex in the office.

As i see it, the only unlawful thing that does NOT happen in that office nowadays, is sex.

if cheney wasn't guilty of something, he wouldn't need immunity from anything.

"Cheney's attorney argued that Cheney is legally akin to the president"

Probably the first time that has ever been said regarding a sitting VP. Why doesn't he just say "Cheney would be President except for the fact that his gruff demeanor made him unelectable, so Rove found Bush and the rest is history."

The man considers himself beyond reproach. His picture should appear beside the dictionary entry for megalomania.

Let's see - Clinton argued that he was immune from lawsuit as President, but it didn't wash for him. So turn loose the Dogs of "Susan Carpenter Macmillan!!"

Now what's Cheney?? Imperial Pro-Consul, or what???

So the Cheney orchestrated attack on Wilson was legal because Wilson disagreed with the administration. Cheney's lawyer went further and claimed Cheney or Cheney proxies could say anthing they wanted, regardless of its truth or falsity, in response to that dissent.

It would seem that Lewis Carroll is writing the legal briefs for the Cheney crowd now.

"The Queen turned crimson with fury, and, after glaring at her for a moment like a wild beast, screamed `Off with her head!"

                    Yeah, right!!!
