May 18, 2007, 12:08 a.m."New high-tech employment verification measures also would be instituted to ensure that workers are here legally."
I heard that they will be introducing a new national ID card for all immigrants to carry.
It would be interesting to know what this entails.

May 18, 2007, 12:51 a.m.I'm truly tired of hearing racists hurl the Amnesty slur at any attempt to solve our immigration problem short of mass deportations or executions, which these tax hating conservatives have NO intention of paying for. Just add it to the debt that our children will have to pay for their grand old party.
I propose this. Anybody who thinks paying a $5,000 fine plus all back taxes and spending 8 years on probation is AMNESTY should be investigated. If they have had so much as a parking ticket, a jaywalking fine or more, makes no difference if they paid the penalty or not, they should be deported immediately. They're a lawbreaker, and they should be judged with the words of their own mouths. They say, "NO AMNESTY. Fines aren't enough. Probation isn't enough." For them, break a law and you are out of here. Their own words should judge them.

May 18, 2007, 4:26 a.m.we should also take a look at mexico's immigration laws. you'd be amazed what they have in place for Americans. bottom line here, this immigration bill is corporate driven. Corporations are the ones who lured this imported Servant class, they never paid health insurance, but they trained the illegals to go to our emergency rooms for their medical care and how to get medicaid and foodstamps and free education for their anchor babies/children.
try to get these services as an American. i did. (to no avail) we are doomed if this bill is passed. The people behind it do not have America in their best interest. we will plummet to 3rd world status. and if we absorb the 12M, where does it stop? Conservatives and liberals have to break the barriers an open eyes. this bill is not good for us no matter how you cut it!

May 18, 2007, 2:33 p.m.Sure Aniokly, put iraq on the back burner. the Puks need to as its a no win situation for them. Bush desperately needs a legacy before leaving office and this is the one ticket he has latched on to.( other than his Iraq failure)
Fact is however, Social securtiy is in trouble and now we have a huge influx of funds from these newly documented workers.
Well maybe, It still hasn't been proven if there is a cost benefit or deficit from these millions of under-educated workers. An added bonus would be that due to the burden placed on recources available for indigent care, there also would be some sort of health care reform.
Illegals ( like the war) are still good for buisness.
By the way , we've already absorbed the 12 mil.
