Good idea. And will we make Mexico into another state or several states? What will we do about their president, does he just become a senator? And the governors of the different states of Mexico? Should they become representatives? Hmm. A lot to be worked out here, but it is probably cheaper and more humane than anything that's happening now.

Well, I come on here all the time and scold people for their "simplistic" thinking. To be honest, I don't know how feasible this plan would be. But, it certainly sounds like a great idea and if it could be done, I'd be all for it. Those senoritas!(By the way, if my wife asks, I didn't mention the Mexican women!).

Well dont you think we should just sell Canada first!!!! Although Im not so sure if that would be a good idea to buy mexico considering its an impoverished country... You think we pay taxes now, and have problems now... Yeah purchase mexico... But why purchase when you can just take them over completly.... ha ha ha.. Im just kidding... Anyways nough said for now...

I thought of that idea before, but people said it would actually HURT our economy. I'm not so sure. For example, when the European Community came out with Euros, it became stronger than the dollar. I feel like this might work similarly.

How are going to control illegal immigration from Guatemala after the deal?

Without a river between Mexico and Guatemala the cost of building a wall down there will be extremely high.

Finally since a large number of our country fellows feels uncomfortable managing a second language, how are we going to deal with Spanish plus a considerable number of native languages.

                      We are not Europeans.

I'm not sure that China will lend us the half-trillion for this deal unless we put up Mexico and Texas as collateral.

Why hell yes, sounds like what i been saying all along.,the way it is Mexico is waisting its country,. being run by drug dealers, and human smugglers.,everything is corrupt.,So the US could just take over the country for its own good,.and make it a nice place to live and vacation.,really there is No one to stop us.

Well, the Louisiana purchase worked out pretty well. What is the asking price? With all the problems their Federal government has today, we should be able to drive a pretty good bargain. And it WOULD make it FAR less costly for us to build the fence we would need to keep people even further south out of the US.

Buying Mexico is a great idea. Then we could sell it to China and watch how fast the illegal border crossings stop. They would have it secured in 6 months and help solve the flood of aliens.

Buy it? Hell no!! We are the United States of America...we will simply annex it (under threat of military might) in the name of George Dubya Bush! All of Mexico will simply be one state (to keep their representation in "proper check")and Felipe Calderón will be govenor.

This might also save Mexico's natural environment. They have serious pollution issues. Factories still dump toxins straight into rivers, lakes are drying up. Endangered species are being wiped out. More regulation is needed.

I think that this would be handled like the social projects of the depression era. Get the government to start some projects and send in the top dogs to get the projects off the ground and use the available work force and ship in some good old American workers as well. Could be the jump start are economy needs.

And here is another thought about the language issue. Offer a kind of bonus for learning the second language, so the student be they American or Mexican has a tangible reason to want to learn a new language. This would also open a new outlet for education and growth as a culture. Now the question I would like to pose is this: What do you think that we will do with the holiday situation? Meaning add their's to the calender and everyone gets to celebrate, or throw them to the wind.
