Given that Democratic Leader Harry Reid has threatened to filibuster any immigration bill that does not include amnesty for illegal aliens, someone should ask him a basic question: What happens to state budgets when 12 million illegal aliens become eligible for Medicaid and food stamps? Right now, illegal aliens are largely ineligible for a whole p

I wish someone could explain to me where they get the 12-million figure when it's over 20-million according to every major statistical model. I can personally count 12-million and that's just the one's with tax id numbers. How about their grandmas and aunties?

I have heard that there are over 20 million and more each day living in the USA.

The cost includes; all their relatives will be coming here too, because there are loopholes and exceptions, that will end up permitting parents, grandparents, etc. to come to the USA, meaning approximately 240 million family members over the next 10 years. If this is permitted to happen it will definitely wipeout SS & medicare/medicaid. Then what would happen to all the Seniors who are not able to return to work?

Common sense dictates that a baby born in America of legal parents is an American citizen. If the parents are not here legally the child cannot be an American citizen. We have enough trouble funding these government programs as it is. We don't need a bunch of illegal aliens and children born to them bleeding these programs further. Any politician voting for the amnesty of, should be voted out of office as quick as possible. I would venture a guess that most of the congressman/women are from areas where large Latin populations exist. Since they don't want to alienate these people they are voting for amnesty.

I don't feel that people that are here illegally should be rewarded by giving them amnesty. I would venture a guess that the majority of Americans believe the same way. I will state again that if they congressmen/women continue to ignore their constituents they should be booted from office.

Immigration laws in this country are a joke. And now we have another joke on the American public. Democrat, Republican. Neither party is for the people anymore.

$21 a week for groceries. Perhaps State Govt should stop granting huge tax breaks to multi-million dollar corporations if they really care about the State Budgets.

It should be apparent to everyone that neither the Bush administration nor the Congressional majority is serious about addressing the problem of illegal immigration. If they really intended to do anything about it, the first step would be to close our borders to the tens of thousands who cross them daily.

Until our "leaders" are willing to do that, bills uch as that being discussed here are meaningless. They are eyewash for the electorate. Both parties think that the average American voter is so ignorant that they will not hold these excuse-makers accountable on election day.

Unfortunately, the politicians may be right.
