True story. Pigs have a great sense of smell (presumably one capable of tuning out their own reeking body odor). They used to be used to sniff out truffles in the French forests, because truffles grow some 6 inches under the forest floor, and show no outward signs of existence.

But pigs like to EAT truffles so much that they have been largely phased out as search animals. Dogs, with equally acute sense of smell but absolutely no interest in eating the tuber delicacy, are now commonly employed in the hunt, because the truffle hunter doesn't have to fight off his animal assistant when one is located.

i hate to say this however i have to.. i bet the 4 legged pig has a lot better personality that a lot of the other pigs at the airports that i have travelled through.. i don't know about anyone else but my mom always told me that a smile was universal.. i think she forgot to mention that in most cases that does not apply in airports and border crossings ..
