May 21, 2007, 11:40 p.m.It all starts with people thinking that there are different races of humans when there is not. There is more genetic difference between the sexes than between any of the so-called races.

May 21, 2007, 11:50 p.m.Very good post, hope it draws alot of POSITIVE debate. To me most racism is out of fear of change or something new. Most people resist change even if it is good for them.Rather than try and understand each other we would rather throw rocks.

May 22, 2007, 12:15 p.m.Good article. I feel that racism exists because of the lack of knowledged about other people. A lack that comes from the fact that we really don't know each other. I mean I don't have very many friends outside of the African-American, Arab/Muslim community and I feel weird about it. Where I work there are all nationaiities. I chit chat with other people, but after work I don't invite or get invited out for drinks or to go to a sports bar.
Because we don't hang, then the sterotypes that are taught to us by our parents, become fact. I've met people who really believe that Blacks are lazy, Hispanics are all illegal, Asians are smart and so on.
I'm teaching my kids to take people as they are and develop their on ideas about people.
