By now everybody knows that Bush is the dumbest president ever, and his total failure to act on, yet even acknowledge the problems of global warming, is in itself ultimate proof, that it is the most pressing issue of mankind

Bush thinks his job is bringing on the End Times, so he does not care about the planet for a minute longer than he is on it.

But it's surprising to hear this from Arnold, who tools around in his Humvee. Up to now he's been pretty buddy-buddy with Bush, and I think this is just piling on while Bush is finally unpopular about everything else.

Not that I'm complaining, if it works. Barring states from taking these steps is absurd and invites a legal challenge for home rule.

Maybe it's time for the governor's to really act and stop complaining - since when do they have to wait on the Feds to make the law stricter? What are the Feds going to do if the legislatures in the states pass a law requiring the lowered emissions?

They can each try various means to reduce CO2 emissions then we can take a look at what really works and what doesn't. We would also be able to look at the cost/benefot ratio

I wouldn't expect anything from the EPA for the next year and a half. If they didn't do anything to protect the first responders (several thousand of whom are terminally ill) following 9/11, we shouldn't hold our breath on environment policy.
