Maybe the Muslim knows that a well 'bonded dog', such as the blind have, will defend it's 'partner' with a very straightforward and vicious attack if the dog 'senses any danger' to itself or partner form the other person or animal in it's presence and as such the Muslim could be in trouble.

Wow this is almost as bad as Christian pharmacists who refuse to dispense morning after pills to rape victims because of their religion.
I don't think this is an Islam issue as much as it is a religion-in-the-workplace issue.
Why would people would take jobs that their religion forbids them to perform? Perhaps they had no alternatives, although in the case of the pharmacists, I doubt it.

More jobs americans and aussies will not do and do not want. How hard is it to drive a cab? As lazy as most people are you would think they would line up for the right.
Jobs outsourced overseas? they are being outsourced right from under us. These people make waves where ever they go.

This isn't surprising. The same thing happened in Minneapolis-St. Paul. The drivers there refused to pick anyone up if they suspected the passenger was carrying alcohol as well as blind people with dogs.
Citing their religious beliefs, Muslim taxi drivers from Somalia refused to transport customers carrying or suspected of carrying alcohol. The number of fare refusals has grown to about 3 a day, says airport spokesman Patrick Hogan
When tougher penalties for drivers refusing to pick up some passengers were discussed the drivers responded: tougher penalties for refusing riders would deny them religious freedom"

It is a funny situation, everybody has the right to do anything he wants according to his/her liking, and nobody talks about it but Muslims have to believe and do things as they are dictated by the Western standard or they cannot be trusted. All over the world people refuse to do so many things, your embassies which refuse visas even whiteout a valid reason, issue the visa, and then detain people on arrival on false charges for days.

the comments made by daylight here are a perfect example of the serious nature of the islamo fascists we face and the maniacal danger they present--i think in his mind death by beheading would be justified if a blind man with a guide dog were to touch him or his cab and make them "unclean"--and in our politically correct fog we have leaders who try and "understand" these lunatics--like pelosi who says we just need "dialog" with them..think there is any chance of changing daylights mind..?--they dont just want us not to ride in their cabs--they want us dead--

Are ther no laws? What about cancelling their taxi licence? What about actuallly doing something about it. Put them out of their jobs. We have to take back our way of life. Daylight would be screaming if an Austrailian cabbie refused to transport a mulim fare (for any reason). The local licencing boards should nip this in the bud now with a few selective firings. If any of the cabbies are not citizens then they should be deported back to their countries of origin where they can pick and choose who they transport (not).

It's comforting to see that most of the comments support the blind people PAYING for a ride, but I can't believe that there are any that are sympathetic to the Religion of Peace cabbies. So much for tolerance, eh? As far as Muslims conforming to Western Culture is concerned, whe n you're in a Wester Ccountry, that's what you do. Actually, not anymore, since the West has gone PC. Seriously, how many Christians can go to Saudi Arabia, Iran, or Syria and openly show their faith without being arrested, beaten, tortured, or killed? A Westerner goes there, it's "When in Rome..." but a Muslim goes to the west, we are supposed to kowtow to them and "accept their culture." You know what? You create laws that everything in the world has to be "handicaped accessible" from construction sites to baseball stadiums, I don't think letting a blind guy into a cab is that much of a stretch. Let the poor muslims get over it or get another job. Like at a sausage factory or something.

Is there anybody who would want to live in a Muslim country? When Muslims move to the West, why do they demand the kind of rules that made their old homelands such lovely hellholes?

If your religion forbids you from touching certian people, I think a cab driver might be the wrong field. It would never fly if a Christian cab driver refused Muslim fares, and it shouldn't. But it goes both ways. And as far as witholding visas for no valid reason, well the reality is that certian people from certian parts of the world have tried to do us harm, and have done us harm, so we excersise extra caution when opening the provervial gates if we are suspicious of a person for any reason. We have many wonderful people in this country that have come leagaly from somewhere else, worked hard and gone through the system to become citizens. Its not impossible. If thats a problem, and if our government is not good enough, then go back to your own government which I'm sure is far superior.

From what I understand Muslims dont drink alcohol indeed some dont even want to be in the same room as the stuff. Thats fine. But what if Im going to a party and it's a BYOB and I have a cold six under my arm trying to get a cab? Where do you draw the line?
