I love pop culture and politics, the former offsets the stress created by the latter.

What she did was wrong, but not illegal. It should fall under free speech. Suspension, mabey some counciling, might be appropriate, but not jail time.

The wackiest part of this whole story was how and why the judge sent her to juvie instead of giving her home detention.

From the article: 'Judge Michael Chmiel denied the girl's request for home detention. Instead Chmiel ordered her held in the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center while the case is pending. "I'm concerned about you having some potentially negative influences around you," Chmiel told her. "I think the environment is ripe for failure."'

I'm concerned about negative influences around you, so I'm sending you to jail where you will spend 24hrs/day 7days/wk with much more positive people.

              Sounds about right.

Yeah, she sounds like a hard core felon alright.
