16-year Old Girl Denied Bail for "God Hates Fags" Flyer »

Two girls were arrested in McHenry County, Illinois last week for distributing flyers at their school that depicted a male classmate kissing another classmate and had the words "God Hates Fags" on the flyers. One of the girls at her arraignment was denied bail for her actions, and the other was effectively placed on house arrest.

    Religious Fanatics are lots of fun. Too bad our taxes support much of their foolishness. You'd think they'd at least pay their own way.

      Good. The Bible clearly states that God hates the sin, and not the sinner. When the Christian extremists forgot that, they became just as bad as the Muslim extremists, they may not be killing people with weapons, but they are killing their spirits with words. After all, what homosexual would want to follow a religion where the God hates them? No one, and thus the blood of any salvagable person who could have been freed by God will end up on this girls hands if they saw her flyer and decided I would rather go to hell than serve that God. Shame on anyone who thinks this way, you need to reread your Bible and come to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, because if you think God is that way you obviously don't know him at all.

        Being Bi myself and living in a religiously charged time I've developed interesting theories about God and have formed my own opinion that it is impossible for God to hate homosexuals or to even hate the act. I believe that the bible as written by man is fundamentally flawed because it WAS written by man and men have a foul habit of distorting the truth to their own ways of thinking. Thus two same-sex people who love each other, have fewer rights that a hetero couple who hate each other, there's no justice in that, that's not the way God would have intended things to be

            Yeah. But on another thread, people were shocked that she would be tried at all. I am shocked that this wasn't punished more harshly. She has an impressive record at 16. What if they just stopped another Columbine?

            This is truly disgusting. She learned this from her parents.

                The statements in the article are weird. I didn't know Juveniles could have bail posted. Is that accurate?

                I could see these girls joining the Fred Phelps church after they hit 18. So watch out if you're planning a funeral any time soon.

                  I dont agree that they be arrested for hate crimes. Hate crimes should be restricted to any bodily or property damage/harm, not to free speech about a factual activity of them kissing, and the flyer reflecting their opinions on that factual matter. Free speech is slowly being thrown out of the window in America. And as the article stated 'The ACLU, predictably, said it indicates the struggle between protecting targeted groups and free speech, which apparently means hate speech directed at whites, Christians, or men is a-ok in the ACLU's book.'...not fair.

                    If reaffirming what you believe religously via speech is a hate crime then a lot of religions are in trouble.....

                      if god hates fags so much, why did god even make homosexuality a possibility in the first place? did god make them just so god could hate his/her own creations?

                      sounds like this girl's god is very human, and very petty.

                      doesn't sound like my god at all.
