May 25, 2007, 9 a.m.A Texas newspaper reported the following:
Dr. Scharf, a criminologist, has testified before Congress about what he's learned about crime in New Oreleans. He found that the justice system in New Orleans is in shambles. Gang violence and drug wars are getting worse, because hardened criminals who evacuated to places like Houston after Katrina are on their way home.
Such a homicide rate in New York City would mean nearly 7,000 murders a year, well over the 2,262 it experienced at the height of its violent-crime crisis 17 years ago.
They also reported 14 rapes, 190 armed robberies, 54 simple robberies and 447 assaults in the first quarter of this year
The reidents in the city re-elected Nagin! We are now watching a city in total chaos! You get what you vote for!

May 25, 2007, 3:05 p.m.The city is shooting itself in the foot. They relie on the tourists for much of their income. Who would want to visit New Orleans without flack jackets and heavily armed? At least, at this point, you don't have to worry about suicide bombers or IEDs just small weapons fire.
