May 26, 2007, 5:14 a.m.This is the snowiest spring on Pikes Peak in more than a decade. Barr Camp recorded 231 inches of snow this winter. (It only saw 50 inches in 2006.)
In the years they have lived in Colorado Springs, tennis shoes and jeans would have been adequate for a May Pikes Peak climb, but this year it's so snowy that skiers have been riding the train up and skiing down the east face this month.
Temperatures at the summit have hovered around freezing for days. Snow will likely last into June or July.

May 26, 2007, 8:18 a.m.The Air Force Academy should probably kick their cadets in the a$$ for not checking the intel on the mountain situation, but I am unfamiliar with the Air Force's use of intel. Can someone clarify?
And who turned off the global warming?!?
Reading the comments below the story alone garners a vote for this submission.

May 26, 2007, 11:44 p.m.Why is this categorized as Politics? It's a weather story - not even related to climate, let alone global warming.
Maybe it should be under "Travel" since it is about skiers & snowboarders, etc.

May 27, 2007, 12:29 a.m.Only 50 inches of snow in 2006 - Proof of human caused global warming.
Over 231 inches of of snow in 2007 - Proof of human caused global warming.
How much longer before until the Deniers renounce their blasphemy and submit to the Gospel of St. Albert?
