Derya, 17, is the picture of innocence. But Derya is here at this women's shelter in rural Turkey because her family wants her dead. Her crime: talking to a male classmate on her cell phone-the closest thing to dates many teens in strict Islamic societies have before marriage.

It's no wonder that European countries are blocking the entry of Turkey into the EU. This is insane.

It shows how dangerous these people are.
Not only to others,but themselves.
How stupid and backwards these people lives are.
That they would kill their only child for talking to someone.
If that don't show how ignorant and irrational these people are in their thinking!,its scary!
I guess their idea of grounding their children,is putting them 6 feet under.
Someone needs to tell them that not what it means,they don't have to take such extremes.
Their religion is a nuff to make anyone want to be a atheis.
I think Islam is satanic!
Any god or religion that favors suicides and the killing of others.
Is not the people of the god of love nor is their religion of the god of love and life.
But of death and destruction.
Which is satans realm.

They say we worship the same god. My God tells me to love and pray for my enemies. The god of Islam seems to have a big problem with that concept.

More anti-Islamic garbage. You'll find the same thing happening in the US. Ask the southern poverty law center how many black men have been killed or beaten for looking at a white woman. Or white women/girls beaten by their family for being with the "wrong person." Chances are the people who did the beating or killing are "Christians." So you could make the very same kind of claim against Christians.
You can find an example to prove any kind of bigotry you want, but it still remains bigotry.
Stop spreading hate.

Perhaps it is not the religions, but the people who misunderstanding what they have learned ... I have moslem friends and they don't agree with this kind of acts. So you see, same religion (Islam), different understanding...
If a Muslim kills somebody it is a big issue in today's world, Christians can kill any number of people but it is just called massacre or murder. When a Muslim even accidentally kill somebody, he has done it because he follows Islam, so it is evil. Whom are you trying to brainwash, you can't certainly brainwash anyone because everybody in the world knows that the Western media is manipulating and distorting everything the Muslim do, or say.

Why aren't the males ever punished for this horrific Crime talking to a friend on a cell phone???

If you are to condemn Islam for the wrongs the Muslims do, then you have to condemn Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Secularism, Democracy, communism and all the other people, in equal terms. Why is it Islam being blamed for the wrong doing of the Muslims? because it is very clear the West has an agenda that it has frighten of Islam because it is the only religion that questions the West and challenges them in every step of the way.

I take it, Daylight, you believe that evil being done in the name of Islam is only the result of evil Muslims? That Islam means "peace" and when Muslims kill others, it's only the fault of the Muslim for taking certain Qu'ranic scriptures out of context? That it's not the fault of the religion at all?
