Memorial day should not be a day to celebrate the glory of death for country. It should be a time to honor those who have given their all for freedom, and to then use that freedom to limit how often that sacrifice is necessary.
With my son about to graduate from college, and being an ROTC member, this is a most meaningful time to me.

May 28, 2007, 10:25 a.m.Lives of great men all remind us,
We can make our lives sublime,
And departing , leave behind us
Footprints in the sands of time.
Footprints, that perhaps another,
Sailing o'er life's solemn main,
A forlorn and shipwreck'd brother,
Seeing, shall take heart again.
Longfellow.
