Sheehan clearly has become disenchanted with her once-allies on the Left. She writes today (LINK) on the liberal DailyKos website that "(w)hen I started to hold the Democratic Party to the same standards that I held the Republican Party, support for my cause started to erode and the 'left' started labeling me with the same slurs that the right used."

Cindy Sheehan shouldn't have expected adoration for doing what she thought was right. Standing up for what you believe in is often a lonely place to be, & often leads to what she experienced. Hopefully one day she'll realize that doing the right thing for its own sake, was enough.

Excellent point jordan. Cindy was merely a pawn in the left's game of political chess.

I repeat the message I wrote to TechnologyExpert:

Good for Ms. Sheehan! As an independent voter and one reasonably well educated in depth psychology, cultural anthropology, philosophy, and mythology, I agree with Cindy! That this nation has entered into a downward spiraling period which may be culturally described as an era of the "corporate wasteland" may be indisputable. If more than a two party system is ever needed, it is most certainly now, at this time! It is becoming more apparent that most American politicians seem to prefer political security to what an inner truth of one earth, one people beckons to them.

She should have run or cover as soon as any extremist wing of either party took her under their wing. The far left put her up front and center to promote their agenda. Those on the far right were able to excoriate her to promote their own cause. Whether you agree with her position or not, she allowed herself to be used by extremists on both sides.
