What Would Americans Tell President Bush to Do About Iraq? »

Posted by: doppich 2 years, 5 months ago

The majority of Americans -- if they could talk to the man they elected to be the top executive and commander in chief of the country -- would tell President Bush to focus on developing an exit strategy from Iraq and removing U.S. troops from that country. One in four would tell the president to stay the course or even to be more aggressive.

I think we're seeing the Administration attempt to find a way out of Iraq, but their past strategy has been to disown external or bipartisan recommndations, and then appear to embrace them later once their own efforts have failed.

The sad part of this is that because the Administration is so unwilling to appear to cooperate, the costs, human, diplomatic, psychological and monetary, rise unnecessarily.

Don't forget all the gov contractor's in Iraq. They're getting billions in tax money and are laughing all the way to the bank.

If only Bush would invade the Dakotas, Kentucky, or West Virginia! It would certainly help out those rural poor.

Most of the contractor money doesn't even seem to get to the bank, after kickbacks, bribes, and stealing.

you forget about the Iraqi $12B in cash which the U.S lost or put into some off shore accounts for future use.

Bush is an idiot and should apologize to all for his greedy agenda and those that control his strings

I think it's clear to most what the majority of Americans want. Either Bush is just ignoring it or he's living in a fantasy world and totally misinterpreting it.

Now of course you understand that the Bush bots will come out in full force and attempt to trash this poll.

Bush don't care what the people want or think, he proved that a long time ago.

Well, here we go. I would vote against ANY incumbent. The system, as is, obviously doesn't work. Not only does the Administration not give a hoot in Hell what the American People think, the Congress (controlled by the spineless) is more concerned with their political futures than they are with the troops or the stature of the United States in the world. So, vote out every single incumbent. They've got to go.

My first response on reading the title was "No sh*t." The majority of Americans have been in favor of ending this war for some time. Yet it continues thanks to an unholy confluence of spineless Democrats and a White House convinced with a kind of messianic zeal of it's own infalibility. Don't expect what the citizens of the country think to change anything.

The people who wish to stay the course fall into the group of some of the people all the time. This administation is having a real problem leaving because the mission has not been accomplished.

The administration's goal is obviously to completely destabilize the middle east, Fleece the U.S. economy, and send middle class working Americans back to their role as serfs. When it's over they will laugh from their thrones while urinating in the direction of the U.S. from the new empires they've created for themselves. Cheney will be Shah Of Dubai.

No surprise in the poll results. But the question should be, why waste 15 minutes talking to President Bush? While he gives every outward appearance of being in the Hominidae family he seems to listen more like he's a Bush in the Rosaceae family.

Saddam was the biggest destabalizing force in the Middle East with an army that did attack sovereign Kuwait in an illegal oil war. Now the US is in Iraq, Kuwait is stable. Iran is quaking in their boots but is more stable without Iraqi troops in their sovereign country in an illegal oil war and a half million dead. Saddam used his "army" to attack and starve Iraqis. Fallujah was the only thing close. Sunnis complain about Fallujah but don't mention slaughtering 250,000 people in the Basra uprising with tanks and helicopters. Sunnis completely demolished Shia mosques and killed the top leaders of the Shia clergy by the thousands. Another 100,000 Kurds will killed in a genocide to steal their oil. Saddam was the worst human rights violator in the world for 10 years according to human rights watch (hrw.org). He dismantled 10,000 people at Abu Ghraib before hanging them. If you said you didn't like Saddam he staked you to the dirt, in the 120 degree heat, to die.
