I now have a mental picture of how cruel this is. I only imagine that this type of action came to play because of the worst type of criminals. I do think this is torture. I believe that our government needs set boundries and make people responsible for their actions. This happens to many times and no one is taking responsible for when something goes wrong to innocent people.

Torture is not an effective means of getting information.

Torture is un-American. Those who practice it and enjoy it are also un-American, Anne Coulter & Guiliani. In our carefully-worded Bill of Rights, Thomas Jefferson & James Madison explicitly disposed of Merry Old England's Star Chamber - the place where confessions were extorted from "suspects" with sharp and flaming hot objects. Torture does not work. Torture is not entertainment. Torture is not cool. Do not allow these Monarchists to plunge us back into the Middle Ages. Don't be punked.

Information gained under duress is suspect to say the least. This is about power via coercion. People will agree to (or make up) just about anything to make the pain go away. Look at the Moscow show trials, S21 in Cambodia, The killings in Argentina, torture of Falun Gong practitioners in China, the list goes on and on.

            Count your blessings people.

Shocking! I never even heard of the term until I saw this video. Quite an array of sorts throughout military history of man's inhumanity to man.

The United States signed the Geneva Conventions in December of 1949. Article 3 of the conventions specifically regards the treatment of prisoners of war.

This Administration has specifically attempted to alter those same conventions to fit whatever mode they deemed necessary to "gather intelligence". It was this Administration that stated they had the right to deem waterboarding NOT cruel treatment because the POTUS has the right to make war.

I'm not sure how anybody could watch that video and not consider it cruel.

Yep, that's torture. The subject won't drown obviously, but could very easily be suffocated. That would be murder. Torture and murder cannot be justified in a rational person's mind - even in those unrealistic Jack Bauer moments.

First of all that guy is a MORON!!!!

Secondly I bet the real thing is much more intense.

That video is not cruel the idiot payed someone to do it to try to make a point!!!

I don't know what goes on in war and interogations because I have never been there. The psychos we are fighting against are a billion times worse. They have no rules and no restrictions because they are ANIMALS!!!!

We have to do something to get info. This or threaten to blo or cut heads off on camera. What are we supposed to do tickle their feet 'till they pee their pants and then say we did all we could. War is HELL!!! At least there are guidelines????

The problem with allowing ANY torture is that our credibility to the rest of the world is lost. We can't complain about human rights in countries like China and Pakistan when we are torturing people. We can't talk about North Korea starving his own people to death because we are condoning the use of torture. We lose much more than we could ever gain from it.

And now we can never get that credibility back.

"Our credibility is lost" I bet every other country does the same or worse. Its just that their Media isn't as obnoxious and liberal as ours!!!

                          Don't kid yourselves.

For heavens sake families in China sell their daughters because they are only allowed to have one baby. Actually the government over there sells them and calls it adoption.

I say this is entirely acceptable--the only scar they have is to thier mind..After all--they hate us without reason..Isn't that "scaring" our mind ???

It sure looked like torture while it was happening, but the guy was laughing about it when it was all over. The goal seems to be to instill sufficient dread in the victim, that they fear they may die. But they don't die. We don't want to kill them, and they know it. That fact makes the whole practice seem kind of pointless.

For every innocent person tortured or killed by US govt actions, including the illegal extraditions, how many new terrorists are created?

After the Bush admin and Bush`s war of choice in Iraq, why would a local Iraqi, Afghani, or anyone bother to warn us to stop a terrorist attack?

The more crappe we pull such as torturing and jailing innocents the more we are seen as the oppressor instead of the liberator or the good guy.
