Very scary: "Melting glaciers in Asia's mountains could affect an estimated 40% of the world's population, who rely on ice melt for crop irrigation and drinking water."

    That's just an incredible number.

The earth is warming--.6 degrees C.over the past 100 years. The ice will melt and over the course of time Greenland will be bare for a couple of hundred years and then as it did in the 1200's slowly but surely cool down again--The earth does this--It has its own thermostat--We should spend all this good energy (human energy) on something that we can control!!

I wonder with all of the garbage that is sprewed into the air if one day the air will not create a chemical reaction that may asphyxiate a large group of the population.

How can some people say global pollution will take care of itself when that is not always possible?

            From the story....

"Unep chief Achim Steiner said the report showed that time was running out for political leaders to reach a global agreement on curbing emissions."

Wonder what we're paying Mr. Steiner to make such stupid statements?

            Time running out?

            WTF?

Where is this clock and who's keeping track?

Was the report about climate or politics?

These stories about the UN and global warming get more and more bizarre day by day! Useless article about a useless organization.

Ah, the UN...the New World Order that will save us all. Any time I see the UN in a news story, the first word that pops into my head is "regulation," because that's ultimately what the UN wants to do. It didn't take 3 paragraphs to start talking about "political action." Political action ALWAYS means restricting the activity of free people either through legislation or economically via taxes/fees, etc.

The whole argument is disingenuous. If this were really about the environment and pollution, we would be talking about pollution. But the talk always centers around "global warming." What sentence do you hear first: "We need to do something about pollution," or "We need to do something about global warming"?

There are many holes in this whole idea of irreversible global warming and its causes. Of course, if you have an agenda, it is unlikely you will listen to such ideas.

Ultimately we just need to care about the environment and future of the earth and do things to prepare and preserve it instead of gambling on the assumption that everything is just gonna be ok.

Speaking of the UN They released a study last year entitled "Livestock's Long Shadow" here is the link---- http://www.virtualcentre.org/en/library/key_pub/

                  longshad/a0701e/A0701E02.pdf

Read chapter three---Some facts from that chapter:

Respiration from organisms--50 billion tonnes per year

Organic Matter eroding and oxidizing--61-62 billion tonnes per year

Fossil fuel burning---4-5 billion tonnes per year--Why is that "conveniently" left out of Gore's film-hmmm....

Thank you, elite. This is exactly what I'm talking about. Many things are left out of the debate, including that we are basing our predictions on 30 years worth of data, which is a VERY small sample. What else is left out is that the "predictions" we keep getting are based on a faulty computer model that can't handle a 5-10 day weather pattern, much less the effects of specific gases in the atmosphere over the course of a century.

It's just a shame that the "global warming" alarmists won't even consider anything other that a "do or die" approach to what they paint their gloom and doom future to be.

It seems that it's all about control, as I said. I guess the spawn of Rachel Carson have now found a new "cause" to hang their hats on. I'm sure many people are aware that she's the one that got the ball rolling on banning DDT because of some idea that it caused bird eggshells to be thin and weak. Well, long story short, it was a lie. It was proven false. Of course, one of her cronies spilled the beans that (I'm paraphrasing here) if they could get DDT banned, they could get anything else banned in the name of the environment. Looks to me like global warming is the new DDT.
