'Supporting the Troops:' The President's Latest Example »
Posted by: populist 2 years, 5 months agoHow he and his cohorts have been able to successfully convince the American public, and cow the Democratic Congress, into believing that one supports the troops by having a war for them will never be explained; it is absolutely inexplicable.

June 5, 2007, 12:51 a.m.There is NO "surrender" - there is NOTHING to "surrender" to!
We are not fighting any "terrorists" in Iraq. We are "fighting" Iraqis that are angry at what America has done to their country, and they want us OUT!
You have NO idea what you are talking about regarding who "wants the troops to come home" and who wants them "to complete their job first".
Besides, there is NO "job" to complete. Saddam was removed from power FOUR years ago, and we have made a HUGE mess of that country since then.
As far as the Democrats in Congress are concerned - TOO many of them are wimps and they turned their backs on the people that voted them into office by voting to continue the funding of the Iraq OCCUPATION.
There are NOT more people who want "the job finished".
Poll after poll - even the FOX News poll (the only news you listen to) - has shown that most Americans want our troops OUT of Iraq NOW.

June 5, 2007, 12:56 a.m.The Bush administration does NOT support the troops.
Soldiers coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan cannot get the health care they need - they wait over a year to be offered 20% of the disability they deserve. THOUSANDS do not get ANY care for PTSD and other psychological disorders; thousands are DENIED disability when they more than qualify for it; THOUSANDS of veterans are bankrupt, homeless, and estranged from their families - all thanks to the SHABBY and disgusting way they have been treated by this administration for risking life and limb (LITERALLY) to serve their country.
The Bush administration is amoral, greedy, selfish, self-absorbed, crooked, and evil.

June 5, 2007, 12:57 a.m.I've given up trying to figure out why some people believe nonsense. They wallow in their ignorance to the extreme, and aren't worth my time any more to point out the flaws in their thinking. Just glad I'm not them.

June 5, 2007, 9:50 a.m.In the military we are officially on duty 24hours a day 7 days a week. They can call us in on our time off at any time and they usually do.Our pay equals out too about $2-$3 an hour, way less then minimum wage.it is definately very hard too live with the pay we receive and the hours we work.I think illegal aliens working on apple farms get paid more.

June 5, 2007, 10:21 a.m.The Neocons have proved that of all Americans, they support the troops the least.
Going into a theater of war knowingly undermanned for real success.
Giving our troops insufficient armor.
Deploying them (for the first time in American history) to a country not attacking us.
Extending tours to 5.
Misusing the National Guard so it wasn't there for disasters on American soil.
Disgraceful treatment of our wounded.
Pushing for another war (Iran) when we have no more troops to deploy, putting any further burden on our already spread to thin army. (Or using Fundamentalist Christian mercenaries Blackwater, who answer to no law, to represent America.)
The uranium dust...
This "Commander In Chief" has never given a damn about our soldiers' safety.
The troops are just Republican cannon fodder to Bush, Cheney, and Rove, instead of American citizens who are giving their lives for our freedom.

June 5, 2007, 1:22 p.m.Bush is weak.
Here's why.
He has control of the greatest military in history. Yet, victory eludes him at every turn.
Why?
He has missued his resources.
Opening a new front in his war on terror was a big mistake. History shows nations fighting wars on two or more fronts often lose.
To make matters worse. Bush's war in Iraq was unnecessary. It had nothing to do with Al Qeada or 9/11.
In the world's eyes, and in the eyes of our enemies Bush is weak because he has taken his best shot and failed to inflict the fatal blow to our enemies. They are emboldned by his incompetence.
Repugnant Republican candidates offering more of the Bush nonsense will be in for a wicked surprise at the polls in 08.
When we conquered Iraq we made it an American territory. We need to make it as safe as any of the 50 states. To do that we need new thinking. that much is clear. New thinking won't come from any GOP candidate. They offer more
Bush and con BS.
It's the Democrats' turn.

June 5, 2007, 3:02 p.m.Going to Iraq was a huge mistake. Every single neocon prediction about how it would go has been, and continues to be, completly wrong. Yet they continue to make predictions and 28% of the country continue to believe them. (And apparantly most of them are on Netscape.) What will it take for you neocons to get a clue.
And though invading Iraq was an unbelievably stupid thing to do, it did not have to turn out this badly. It was carried out in the most incompetent, incoherent, moronic way imaginable. So many lost lives, so much squandered treasure. It will go down in history as one of the worst atrocities visited on the American people by a president. (Nevermind the people of Iraq!)

June 5, 2007, 3:51 p.m.America never had a chance in Iraq from the start, still don't. There are some good U.S. people there trying to do a good job but they are not the ones pulling the strings. These same good people are the ones doing the dying while the likes of Bush,Cheney & company could not care less about their well being over there or when they get back physically or mentally wounded. That 28% should volunteer & go help out George & his cuthroat Dickie instead of writing their rubbish here.
