June 6, 2007, 10:03 p.m.Germany once again attempts diplomatic efforts with Iran. Perhaps, diplomacy with them is dangerous in the same way Neville Chamberlain appeased Hitler before WWII. What does everyone else think?

June 6, 2007, 11:43 p.m.I think he's insane, that's what I think. The people of Iran are going to have to do something to save themselves. They have no choice. I sure wish we knew what they (Iranians) are thinking or doing. He can't possibly believe that he can win against the world, and be sane.

June 7, 2007, 3:04 a.m.It's never wise to dismiss a potential enemy as a lunatic. If Mahmoud Ahmadinejad were truly crazy, he would be far less of a problem to the US and Europe. He's very unpopular among his own people now, and as sanctions increase, and economic pain goes up proportionally, he is likely to be gone before long.
I don't see anybody trying to play Neville Chamberlain with him. Saying so is just pandering.
We need to take a realistic look at the risks a nuclear Iran actually poses versus the risks of anther preemptive war. Can we actually identify all the nuclear targets? Nased on our monumental failure of intelligence regarding Iraq, I would have grave misgivings about any Cheney claim the "We know where the weapons are".
Even if we can somehow identify all the sites, can we take them out with anything short of a nuclear strike? After the 1981 Israeli strike on Iraq's Osirak nuclear facility, Iran surely built any weapons facility in deep, hardened bunkers.

I think it's good to recognize a lunatic. Then responses can be adjusted accordingly. I think you confuse that people will think lunacy has an inability to harm. Hitler is proof of that misnomer. Mahmoud's lunacy makes him far more dangerous.
