Two Americas: One Blind to Terror Threat »

Posted by: stephen-johnson 2 years, 6 months ago

By Jack Kelly - Radical Islamists have been trying to kill Americans since long before the Iraq war began. There is no reason to suppose they will stop trying to kill Americans when the war in Iraq ends. But in the Democratic presidential debate in Manchester, New Hampshire Sunday night, all the candidates argued, in effect, that our troubles will

"The FBI announced Saturday three Muslim men have been arrested for plotting to blow up fuel tanks and pipelines at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

The New York Times ran a story about the plot in Sunday's paper. On page 30. The front page was reserved for a sympathetic story about Omar Ahmed Khadr, a suspected al Qaida terrorist being held at Guantanamo Bay."

Good to see that the ol' Gray Lady has her priorities in order! ;-)

But wait, we have nothing to fear. Terrorists are all bottled up in Iraq, and have no thought to attack us here.

Who is wearing the blinders here?

The clown posse on the left, as always, have little real clues about the "troubling thorn in their sides called reality."

The "live now pay, dearly later crowd" as always wants a utopic world they've envisioned over a water pipe.

Surely, we can turn aside the evil Muslim murder cults and the terror regimes by attacking ourselves.

This article is deadly accurate in it's depiction of the Looney left's backward priorities...homage and sympathy for the seventh century islamic terrorists and disdain for their own land and people.

The time is coming for you mattress stains...

when the first nuke goes off in your front yard, you'll have no one to blame but your own gawd damn ignorance and appeasement. This Multicultural, politically correct agenda you forment will be your end.

            Enjoy it while it lasts...

sorry, all you right wing nuts should just go back to your holes... I'm sure 90% of you guys (republicans) are racist towards all races... and to say that all muslims are terrorist is basically saying all caucasian males are pedophiles (because on Dateline's To Catch A Predator) 90% of the guys that walk into the house are white...

But obviously thats not true, just like all muslims are terrorists..

it's your ignorance that the world hates...and oh yeah, there were no WMD's.... so basically you guys are all supporting a mass murderer (Bush) ... congrats Republicans, you are the 21st century Hitler! YOU GUYS SHOULD BE PROUD!

Jamb - Gave you a good comment but I would like to add one item. I would be heartened more if the masses of moderates within the Islamic community would be vocal and speak out against acts of barbarity. Shia's killing Sunni's, Sunni's killing Shia's, Sunni's and Shia's killing innocents in the name of Allah. You get my drift? By the way I blame America for many of the present issues herein so I am not biased in addressing blame. On the other hand conservative hawks are always righteous and correct in all they espouse, they think.

Terrorism is an idea/tactic, not a group. That's why "war on Terror" is a bumper sticker. Not only that, the president HIMSELF agreed that the phrase "war on terror" was inaccurate.

                  http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/47191...

"The Bush administration is abandoning the phrase "war on terror" to better express the fight against al-Qaeda and other groups as an ideological struggle as much as a military mission."

The ones blind to the REAL threat are the neo-cons, whose policies are to bring about never-ending war so their defense contractor buddies can stay rich.

don't get me wrong, the middle east and it's people have alot of growing up to do. The whole sunni shiite war is just ridiculous..

stephen johnson... you really can't say anything about any religions or races here in America.. when have you not turned on the TV and there wasn't a story about Anti-Semite or some tyupe of racial remarks made towards african americans? You have to be fair to all, either allow everyone to say what they want about EVERYONE or not be allowed to say anything at all... and oh yeah, how sure are you that Islamists waged war since the 7th century? SINCE Islam was found in the late 7th centuries...

There are definately 2 Americas.. one that buys stories like this that a CASTROPHIC EVENT .. would have happened....millions killed...

and the other that realizes.. that a pipeline full of jet fuel may burn in a very small contained area with no chance of explosion.. because.. you need to introduce air to to produce vapor for and explosion.. fire yes.. small one.. explosion NO WAY...

these guys are very much like the ones arrested in Miami.. they couldn't have found the local Sears let alone the Sears Tower.. and had NO MEANS of creating a bomb... no way..

I can see most of rhe comments are from ill informed (brainwashed) republicans who still think we're in Iraq because of terrorist.

If you were really so concerned about terrorist then why aren't we in Pakastan wher the real terrorist are?

Ya know... the ones who attacked us...

Your more likely to die from being hit by a meteorite than die in a terrorist attack...get a grip...

If the Government can't stop all the meth labs in the US... how the hell are they going to stop a fanatical murderer from anywhere... fact is... you cannot defeat terrorism...

untill you change the ideals that spur its existance...

"W" has done nothing but pour gas on the fire that fuels the hate that drives the terrorist.

i wonder what % of americans would say bombing civilians is ok to advance a cause.

you people are being distracted. terrorism is no doubt a issue facing our country. the largest or most pressing issue not by any stretch. we best pay attention to our economic strength or we'll have nothing. the greatness of the US has always been in our free economy and our freedoms. both of which are being damaged by the current administration and the so called war on terror.

Americans have intermeddled in the affairs in the Middle East many years before the Iraqi War. I wouldn't like it if Arabs intermeddled in my affairs.

After reading Kelly's article for the third time I still couldn't decipher what the hell he was trying to say. Me thinks Jack would rather see the NY Times on trial than see the world terrorists face the wrath of God.

I've always felt that the pucking right wing blow hards go to any length in order to trash the left rather than discuss the truth of a situation. Jack Kelly confirmed my suspicions.

If spending billions of dollars and engaging a huge military is not enough to stop a terror threat-it sounds like a waste of resources that could be utilized elsewhere.

You know that it is one thing to go around and say "don't do this" and "don't do that", but it is entirely another to teach peace, love and conflict resolution and we simply don't do that. Then why are we suprised when someone wants to engage in acts of violence and war? If we are not actively teaching peace and love and living by those rules, then we are only backhandedly contributing to the problem. For a great book on peace and love go to amazon, LuLu dot com or ebay and look for "korana of mother goddess." peace. and pray for those that would harm you and teach them of peace and love. after all how difficult can this task actually be when we have already had 2,000 years to practice it?

It seems to me that creating a climate of fear is counter-productive to protecting the U.S. Yes there are members of the Islamic faith that hate us regardless, but it seems to me that we are going out of our way to help them recruit. One mistake that some on the right make is to assume all Islamic organizations that our opposed to the U.S. government are interchangable. This is clearly not true. We need to invest in good undercover and police work, not waste lives and resources on a useless police action in Iraq (I won't dignify it by calling it a war). We need to invest in more Arabic language speakers in our investigative agencies.

In addition we need to do one last bit of meddling when we pull out of Iraq. I think the U.S. owes it to the region to organize a series of conferences between various militias and organizations in Iraq and the surrounding countries. It is in our best interest that we get these people talking. Hopefully they can back away from chaos.
